Global Trade Compliance Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Global Trade Compliance Specialist to join our team. This role will play a critical part in ensuring compliance with global trade regulations, eliminating penalties and delays, and identifying opportunities for improvement.

The successful candidate will work closely with regional and country teams to review existing policies and procedures, undertake document and systems control, and serve as the subject matter expert for trade-related inquiries.

Key responsibilities will include mapping existing processes, identifying gaps in coverage and capabilities, establishing plans for organizational development and improvement of trade-related awareness and understanding, creating and maintaining import/export policies and guidelines, developing and implementing internal trade compliance controls and procedures, performing periodic checks to determine the level of compliance, managing daily import/export compliance and requirements, and facilitating the creation, management, and maintenance of manufacturing raw materials' trade master data.

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have significant trade compliance experience, specifically across multiple countries and territories, and will possess certification as a Customs Specialist or Licensed Customs Broker. Additionally, they will have a clear and confident communication style, be able to influence others, and be willing to travel up to 10%.

About the Role

* Create and maintain import/export policies and guidelines for region, ensuring current and thorough knowledge of relevant regulations, laws, and upcoming changes.
* Develop and implement internal trade compliance controls and procedures associated with the entry, classification, valuation, country of origin of imported and exported manufacturing raw materials and equipment, and related recordkeeping practices.
* Perform periodic checks to determine the level of compliance, implementing corrective actions in response to errors and internal control weaknesses disclosed by self-testing.
* Manage the daily import/export compliance and requirements for global trade transactions by working with colleagues, customs brokers, and freight forwarders to ensure timely clearance.
* Facilitate the creation, management, and maintenance of manufacturing raw materials' trade master data in ERP system, including Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes, Export Control Classifications (ECCN) and country of origin.


Requirements

* Able to demonstrate significant trade compliance experience, specifically across multiple countries and territories.
* Certified Customs Specialist or Licensed Customs Broker is required.
* An understanding of export control classification process, export licensing, Foreign Trade Regulations (FTR), and Electronic Export Information (EEI) filing compliance.
* A clear and confident communicator who can influence others.
* Able to travel up to 10%.
