About the job:
The Methanol Institute (MI) is the global trade association, representing the world’s leading methanol producers, distributors, transporters, shipowners, and tech companies. We are looking for a dynamic and proactive communications intern to support our communication efforts. You will join a growing and dynamic team and will get hands-on training, with regular learning opportunities, working in one the most vibrant and innovative industries.
Tasks and responsibilities
· Content creation:
Draft and publish content for websites, social media, newsletters, press releases, and blogs.
· Social media management:
Create engaging visuals and videos, schedule posts, monitor engagement, and track metrics.
· Media engagement:
Assist in building relationships with journalists, distribute press releases, track media coverage, and manage MI’s media calendar.
· Research:
Conduct research on media trends, advocacy opportunities, and potential media outlets to inform MI’s communication efforts.
· Event support:
Provide support for events and webinars, including developing promotional materials, coordinating logistics, and gathering materials.
· Website and digital support:
Uploading content to MI’s website and member portal.
· Reporting and analysis:
Monitor the impact of communications and campaign activities, compiling reports and analyzing strategies.
Competencies and skills
· Experience in communications, particularly in press, social media and website management.
· Good communication skills and awareness of how to tailor communications to different audiences/different purposes.
· Excellent writing and speaking skills in English. Proficiency in other languages, especially French, Spanish, and Chinese is a plus.
· Proficiency in graphic design software (eg. Adobe Suite, Canva, or CapCut).
· Good knowledge of WordPress.
· Good knowledge of Sprout or any other social media monitoring tools.
· Good IT skills with the ability to use Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
· Good planning and organisational skills, including ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines, and carry projects through.
· Interest in and understanding of the energy transition with a focus on transport and chemicals – or be willing to learn.
· Eligibility to work in Belgium.
