Development Engineer – Exploratory Device Processing (12-Month Contract)
A globally recognised leader in nanoelectronics and digital innovation is seeking a Development Engineer for Exploratory Device Processing on a 12-month contract. Based at a state-of-the-art facility in Leuven, Belgium, this role is fully on-site due to the hands-on nature of the cleanroom environment and experimental processing.
This temporary assignment offers a unique opportunity to work at the absolute forefront of semiconductor and material science innovation, turning advanced concepts into physical reality.
The Role
Working closely with seasoned R&D engineers and researchers, you will take a hands-on role in developing the next generation of device technologies.
Key responsibilities include:
- Translating complex device and material concepts into experimental process flows.
- Developing and optimising critical process steps within the cleanroom, including thin film deposition, patterning, etching, bonding, and layer characterisation.
- Integrating these individual steps into full device fabrication flows while monitoring critical parameters for yield and performance.
- Executing processing runs in the lab with a high level of accuracy, ensuring repeatability and thorough documentation.
- Reporting process progress, technical results, and anomalies to project leaders and R&D teams in a clear, structured manner.
Profile & Experience
- Education: A Master’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Nanotechnology, or a related field.
- Experience: 3 to 6 years of experience in a similar position. Extensive, hands-on experience within a cleanroom environment is mandatory.
- Technical Skills: Proven expertise in cleanroom processing, specifically covering one or more of the following: thin film deposition, photolithography, etching, bonding, or microfabrication.
- Approach: Highly organised, results-driven, and adept at planning tasks to meet strict project timelines. You are a strong team player who can collaborate with engineers and assistants, yet you possess the initiative to solve problems independently.
Offer & Logistics
- 12-Month Contract (with potential for extension)
- Leuven, Belgium (100% On-site; remote work is not possible due to cleanroom and lab requirements)
- Desired start around July
- Full-time
