Job Description
The Global Director Business Development (GBDM) provides leadership and coaching to the Business Development Managers and is responsible for managing all business development activities of SGS Clinical Research. They identify and explore strategic business development opportunities to maximize organizational growth.
Together with the team, the GBDM ensures continual development of current and future client accounts and supports building and strengthening relationships with new clients and key accounts.
The GBDM collaborates closely with Contract Management, Proposal Development, and Operational teams to ensure proper planning and progression of strategic projects, establish efficient cross-departmental communication, and develop improvement projects related to the BDM department. There is also close collaboration with the Marketing team for marketing activities and follow-up on leads generated from marketing initiatives.

* Management, supervision, and coaching of Business Development/Account Managers
* Accountability for the target realization of sales and business development activities in Clinical Research
* Supporting the building and strengthening of relationships with new and key clients
* Using extensive knowledge of market evolutions to grow our Clinical Research Business with new and existing customers, emphasizing customer satisfaction and repeat business
* Actively network to identify new opportunities in the (bio)pharmaceutical industry and establish key relationships
* Negotiate and close business deals
* Build strong relationships with internal departments and maintain knowledge of their services to support lateral opportunities
* Represent customer needs to internal departments and follow up on proposal and contract development
* Further develop and maintain the CRM database
Qualifications
What do you need to be successful?
* Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Life Sciences, Business, or equivalent
* Substantial and successful experience leading a Business Development team within Clinical Research and CRO business or related fields
* Proven track record of at least 10 years in sales and/or business development within the Life Sciences industry
* Deep understanding of the clinical drug development process and market
* Fluency in English
* Outstanding people management, coaching, and development skills; analytical thinking; strong interpersonal skills; excellent communication and negotiation skills; proactive and results-oriented; team player
