Director – R&D Programs & Portfolio
What you will do
In this job, you support the Executive VP R&D Programs & Portfolio in setting up and executing the imec strategy and offerings across different market sectors. You help the management teams from each Market Sector with the processes to invest, develop and shape their strategy and offering and closely monitor their KPI and P&L objectives. You provide the functional alignment across Sectors staff to adopt best practices and uniformize the way‑of‑working across the verticals. You follow‑up on new initiatives that are not yet embedded in the organizational structure. You will also work closely with other senior leaders, stakeholders, and partners to ensure alignment of the application portfolio with the business strategy, priorities, and objectives.
Your main responsibilities will be:

Consolidate the business planning and execution across all Sectors and Business organization

Support the management team of each vertical (VP of Sector, portfolio managers, strategy team, technical experts) across key activities including deployment and execution of processes: Budget, Business Plan, Strategic Plan, Go To Market, P&L management. Ensure consistency of these processes across all Sectors.
Provide direction to steer uniform decision‑taking in the different verticals through transparent investment criteria and business processes.
Closely monitor the KPIs for each vertical and establish uniform reporting across the verticals on both short‑term objectives and long‑term strategy.
Alignment with all involved stakeholders (Finance, EC, other support functions) to ensure consistency across the organization.


Provide alignment between the VPs and their Staff from all Sectors and Business Development

Manage regular Staff Meeting (VP level)
Have regular interactions with the PoM Heads to ensure alignment and consistency across the different verticals.
Drive continuous improvement and innovation in the portfolio management execution (deployment of processes) and foster a culture of collaboration, learning and excellence.


Support ongoing change management process to further reinforce matrix organization with clear accountability per Sector

Ensure the accountability for each role in the Sector organization is defined and communicated with clear interfacing towards the expertise lines.
Identify gaps in the new process flows and ensure resources are properly added as needed.


Support following activities:

Facilitate cross‑functional collaboration and communication across Sectors, Business Development and other imec units, and act as a liaison with all stakeholders.
Oversee the planning and execution of key initiatives and projects that are critical for the success of Sectors and monitor/report on the progress, risks, and outcomes.
Analyze and synthesize data and information to support organization decision making and problem solving.
Assist in the development and communication of the strategic direction and priorities for Sectors.
Ensure timely and effective follow‑up on action items and decisions.

Who you are

You hold a scientific degree (engineering, physics or information technology...) at PhD level & and have a solid business background preferably supported with an MBA degree.
You have at least 10-15 years’ experience in product marketing, strategy setting, business development or a similar role in a high‑tech environment and able to quickly develop a deep understanding of each key market segment relevant to the portfolio.
You are multi-disciplinary, highly collaborative, passionate about technology and have entrepreneurial drive to get them adopted.
You are familiar with business analytics, financial tools and innovation management best practices for product marketing.
You are an analytical, strategic and inspirational multi‑tasker yet decisive and able to set priorities when the facts are in.
You have a high degree of initiative, proactivity, and ownership, and the ability to work independently and under pressure.
You have a proven track record of successfully managing and executing complex and strategic projects and initiatives.
You have excellent communication skills (English) to report at executive level and ability to influence stakeholders (internal and external).
