Senior Design Engineer (Port Infrastructure) – Ref. JOB-1549
Summary: We are looking for a Senior Design Engineer to work on large-scale maritime infrastructure projects in Flanders, Belgium. Responsibilities
* Lead the design of maritime infrastructure projects.
* Act as the principal engineer and coach junior engineers and CAD designers.
* Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams and ensure an integrated approach.
* Act as the interface with clients and external partners.
* Prepare and validate design studies (preliminary, basic design, tender, detailed).
* Design maritime structures (quays, jetties, dikes, locks, bridge foundations, etc.).
* Apply Belgian and European standards, including Eurocodes.
* Monitor progress, quality, and performance of studies delivered by your team.
* Participate in commercial phases and prepare technical proposals.
* Propose innovative and optimized design solutions.
* Keep up-to-date with construction methods and regulatory developments.
Qualifications
* Proven experience in structural calculations (concrete, steel, and/or geotechnical).
* Experience in designing infrastructure projects (maritime structures, bridges, tunnels, buildings, etc.).
* Strong knowledge of Eurocodes (mandatory).
* Experience in multidisciplinary project environments.
* Participation in tender processes and understanding of commercial aspects.
Your Profile
* Civil or industrial engineer in civil engineering.
* Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (Construction, Offshore, Dredging, or equivalent).
* Significant experience in design engineering and structural calculations.
* Ability to lead and coach technical teams.
* Fluent in Dutch (ability to independently write calculation notes).
* Strong communication skills, client-oriented, and a team player.
* Availability to work in Flanders (on-site presence 2 days per week).
