Beerse campus, Antwerp, Belgium – Senior Scientist (Emerging Science Immunology Discovery group).
Position Overview
The candidate will play a central role in advancing research focused on the discovery and validation of novel pathways that contribute to tissue pathogenesis and healing in both healthy states and chronic inflammatory diseases. Responsibilities include identifying novel pathways for future therapeutic interventions, designing experimental plans to drive decision‑making and executing in‑vitro pathway validation studies.
We are seeking a Senior Scientist to join the newly established Emerging Science Immunology Discovery group on our Beerse campus. The candidate is expected to anchor novel biology in actionable fit‑for‑purpose experimental plans. By partnering closely with DTMP and Immunology Discovery team members involved in therapeutics discovery, pharmacology, and data science, the successful candidate will generate robust data packages, assess differentiated therapeutic potential and enable functional screens that drive new target discovery and clear mechanistic narratives to support decision‑making.
Key Responsibilities
* Establish novel culture systems (including complex co‑cultures) that replicate cellular phenotypes found in patient tissue (reverse translation)
* Design, perform and interpret in‑vitro experiments to assess therapeutic opportunities to drive deep tissue healing
* Establish key biologic functions and readouts to enable robust screening efforts
* Interrogate multi‑omic datasets to identify cellular mechanisms regulating cell activity in health and disease
