Mission
Thales Begium (Herstal site) is a world leader in precision guided rocket systems for helicopters and jet aircraft. The site is part of the system team of its key engineering activities. To meet its ambitious production and product development roadmap, Thales is expanding its team and seeking an Engineering Delivery Manager.
Location: Herstal, Belgium
Responsibilities
* Strong focus on engineering delivery to achieve project on‑time delivery and within budget.
* Lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of engineering projects involving hardware, software, and system integration components.
* Build a team with the same goals to create an efficient engineering chain conducting all engineering activities R&T/R&D.
* Manage cross‑functional engineering teams, including systems engineers, software developers, and test engineers.
* Take project execution to the next level by developing project management skills and project processes.
* Identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks and issues throughout the project lifecycle.
* Define and track project schedules, milestones, and deliverables aligned with contractual commitments.
* Organize and facilitate collaborative work across teams: internal resources, local sub‑contractors, foreign strategic partners and final customers in Belgium or abroad.
* Collaborate with program managers, people manager, quality assurance, and supply chain to ensure compliance with defense industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, AQAP).
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize delivery processes, including Agile or V‑model methodologies adapted to defense projects.
* Ensure clear communication and reporting with internal stakeholders and external customers, including progress, challenges, and technical solutions.
* Manage based on Program Engineering KPIs.
* Support regulatory and certification activities related to product safety, reliability, and performance.
Profile
* Completed Master’s degree in Engineering.
* Minimum 5 years of Project Management or technical leadership experience within an engineering company (high‑tech) in aerospace, defense, automotive, embedded system, or other high‑reliability industries.
* Strong knowledge of systems engineering, product development lifecycles, and integration/testing processes.
* Experience working with multidisciplinary teams on complex technical projects.
* Results‑oriented, cost‑conscious, and proactive.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders in a highly regulated environment.
* Visionary and capable of handling complex situations.
* Can‑do attitude and willingness to take initiative.
* Skillful at leading with integrity and engaging stakeholders.
* Demonstrated excellent project management skills: scope, stakeholder, resource, and risk management, and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
* Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, JIRA, Confluence).
* Positive and cooperative mindset, looking to improve one’s own team rather than criticizing others.
* Excellent communication skills, enthusiastic and dynamic.
* Familiarity with defense industry standards, quality frameworks, and certification processes.
* Experience in aeronautical, spatial, defense or automotive industry, with knowledge of standards such as DO‑178, ARP‑4754, or ISO 26262 is a plus.
* Fluent in French and English; knowledge of German or Dutch is a plus.
