Freelance Financial Controller - Telecoms Industry (Belgium)
Project Overview:
Our client, a leading player in the telecommunications industry, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Freelance Financial Controller to assist with financial forecasting and long-term financial planning. The primary goal of this project is to support the organization’s strategic financial objectives by ensuring the accuracy, stability, and growth of financial operations within the business. This role is designed to drive forward key financial decision-making, with a specific focus on long-term financial health, capital expenditure, and forecasting future growth in a rapidly evolving sector.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
As a Freelance Financial Controller, your key responsibilities will include:
* Financial Forecasting & Budgeting: Collaborating closely with senior management and department heads to create detailed financial forecasts, including revenue, costs, and cash flow projections. You will be tasked with providing timely and actionable insights that support both short-term and long-term planning.
* Longevity Planning & Scenario Modeling: Utilizing financial models to simulate potential future scenarios (e.g., market shifts, capital investments, regulatory changes) and their impacts on the company's bottom line. You will be responsible for creating and updating long-term financial plans that align with the company's strategic vision.
* Cost Control & Efficiency Analysis: Analyzing operational expenses and identifying opportunities for cost reduction or operational improvements. You will work closely with the operations team to implement financial controls that enhance profitability without compromising service quality.
* Reporting & Stakeholder Communication: Preparing detailed financial reports for key stakeholders, including the executive team, investors, and departmental heads. You will ensure that financial performance is consistently communicated in a clear, concise, and actionable manner.
* Financial Compliance & Risk Management: Ensuring all financial activities are compliant with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and industry best practices. You will also be involved in assessing financial risks and implementing strategies to mitigate potential financial impacts.
* Strategic Financial Support: Acting as a trusted advisor to senior leadership by providing financial insights that aid in the decision-making process related to new projects, expansions, or investments in technology and infrastructure.
Requirements for the Candidate:
* Experience:
* At least 5 years of experience in financial controlling.
* Proven track record in financial forecasting, long-term financial planning, and budget management.
* Strong experience in analyzing financial data, preparing reports, and presenting findings to senior leadership and external stakeholders.
* Familiarity with cost control measures and efficiency improvements in large-scale operations.
* Technologies & Tools:
* Advanced proficiency in financial software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Hyperion, or similar ERP/financial systems).
* Strong Excel skills for financial modeling and scenario analysis.
* Knowledge of financial reporting standards and regulations, particularly within the EU and telecommunications sectors.
* Qualifications & Skills:
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
* Ability to interpret complex data and present clear recommendations.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to translate financial information for non-financial stakeholders.
* Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy and consistency.
* Bonus Skills:
* Experience with strategic financial planning in the context of telecom industry innovations, mergers, or acquisitions.
