We are looking for a Scientist or Senior Scientist who is innovative and passionate, to join us in our In Vitro Pharmacology department, Braine l’Alleud, Belgium.
About the Role
Join our dynamic team focused on Neuroscience in vitro pharmacology within Patient Solutions. We are seeking a Scientist or Senior Scientist with expertise in protein biophysics / biochemistry, pharmacology, to enhance our biophysics, and biochemistry team within in vitro pharmacology department. Our group supports pre-clinical small molecule, antibody, and gene therapy projects. Besides project support, we aim to strengthen our capabilities by expanding our expertise in new technologies.
Who you’ll work with
Reporting to the Associate Director of Biophysics.
What you’ll do
1. Designing and establishing biochemical, biophysical and cellular assays for in vitro drug discovery and mode of action studies
2. Rigorous data analysis and interpretation
3. Provide scientific project support in the above scientific areas for early drug discovery projects
4. Stay up to date with relevant scientific literature
5. Proactively search for new methods and technologies to strengthen drug discovery pipeline
6. Represent the in vitro pharmacology team on discovery or portfolio projects, with the potential to lead projects in the future.
Interested? For this role we’re looking for the following education, experience and skills.
7. PhD or post-doctoral education in a relevant scientific domain or MSc with at least 5 years of industrial experience in the field of small molecule drug discovery, with relevant experience in the areas of biochemistry and biophysics.
8. Experience in protein sciences and cell culture.
9. Experience in developing assays for drug discovery, like target engagement or target occupancy studies.
10. Hands on experience in development and execution of screening assays, including but not limited to enzymatic assays, protein-protein and protein-small molecule interaction, ELISA, western blot, Jess, MST, SPR, GCI
11. Experience in mass spectrometry-based assays is highly desired, including discovery proteomics and metabolomics.
12. Knowledge of liquid handling devices and writing application protocols to support (screening) assays is desirable.
13. Ability to accurately analyze and interpret experimental data, perform statistical analysis, formulate conclusions, and communicate findings with colleagues and management.
