Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Department / Discipline Manager is a key member of our team who will provide high level specialist Management expertise in your specialist Discipline and will be an integral part of the overall delivery of significant capital value projects for Arcadis Engineering and our Clients. The post-holder will be responsible for the planning and co-ordination of resources to fulfil all associated specialism aspects of the Design, Construction, Commissioning and Qualification activities on projects of varying size, scope and complexity. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary regional project team but may also be required to provide DM support to projects executed from any of our worldwide offices.
You will hold responsibility for all People Management activity for those within your remit. According to the needs, the DM will need to have a real hands-on approach to support the projects and the teams. In addition to developing and leading your high-performance team, you will have full responsibility for effectively managing internal and external client relationships as required to ensure that expectations are met, relationships are maintained, and Arcadis interests are protected.
You will have the ability to analyse key stages of each project with a view to identifying / anticipating any discipline related risks which may arise. You will subsequently apply your problem-solving capability to remove / mitigate any risk as identified. The Discipline Manager will also be required to have the tenacity, flexibility and adaptability to provide the end-to-end specialism delivery throughout the project life cycle in a dynamic, fast paced environment, whilst continuously ensuring the prioritisation and balance of organisational, team and client needs. At all times our Department / Discipline Managers will demonstrate the standards and values required by Arcadis Engineering.

· Actively support business development activities on leads and opportunities.

· Participate in presentations at industry conferences and writing of papers in publications.
· Identify and research future industry trends. Keep on top of technology and industry developments.
· Encourage your team to join relevant technical professional organisation and support them in
achieving chartership status.
· Encourage CPD for your team members
· Develop appropriate succession plans for your teams
Continuous Improvements:
· Actively participate in Project Lessons learnt
· Assist in the development and improvement of group/discipline procedures, templates, standards and
knowledge management.
· Assist in the development and implementation of tools to enhance efficiency
· Proactively develop CI plans, reports and KPIs for your discipline

Qualifications
* A relevant third level degree in your associated specialism
* A minimum of 12 - 15 years’ experience in the discipline
* Experience in a similar role is a +
* Demonstrable experience of managing core discipline teams (such as Automation, C&Q, E&I) within the pharmaceuticals area
* Other industry experience such as medical devices, microelectronics or similar an advantage
* Demonstrable experience of building strong internal & external relationships
* Recognized Senior Department / Discipline Manager with a strong experience of large Project collaboration
* Demonstrated ability to successfully deliver business projects
* Proficiency and experience with construction contracts
* High level of commitment and project discipline ownership
* Self-motivated, with proven ability to understand, identify and define project needs in their area with minimal direction
* Ability to manage workload of multiple projects of varying complexity
* Strong schedule and budget management skills
* Ability to effectively work in a in fast-paced, client focused environment
* Excellent interpersonal, organisational, multitasking, communication, and strong presentation skills
* Strong attention to detail and reporting skills
* Computer literate (ability to manage internal systems as well as external)
* Demonstrable experience of resilience and tenacity in a pressurized environment
* Languages: English, Dutch and French
