Job Description
APCO Brussels is looking to hire an Associate Director/Senior Associate Director to lead our Financial Services Practice with a focus on fintech expertise. We are seeking experienced, ambitious, talented, and finance-savvy professionals to join our diverse and multicultural team.
Ideally, you will demonstrate strong expertise in EU policy issues, Brussels developments, and macro business factors impacting clients. You should have an understanding of consultancy business practices, a genuine interest in EU financial markets policy, and strategic and tactical abilities.
You need at least eight years of relevant experience in consultancy, in-house roles, political institutions, or within trade associations/think tanks. You should be self-directed, proactive, motivated to excel for your clients daily, with experience leading teams, managing work streams, and serving as senior counsel on major projects. A positive, proactive attitude that inspires confidence and teamwork is essential.

Responsibilities
1. Lead a team of Financial Services practice members, including senior and junior staff.
2. Lead financial services, strategic communication, and issue campaigns for clients.
3. Manage and grow client relationships, oversee projects, supervise teams, allocate resources, and review work.
4. Provide high-level client service through proactive account management, serving as the primary contact, and managing staff to maintain and expand relationships.
5. Develop strategies and craft messages for new and existing clients.
6. Monitor developments in key issues and identify opportunities for further engagement.
7. Identify and lead new business opportunities for APCO.
8. Require at least 8 years of experience in public affairs and strategic campaigns, including team leadership.
The Ideal Candidate Will
1. Have strong expertise in EU financial market policy, capital markets, and payments.
2. Experience working on policy issues affecting the financial sector and data economy.
3. Ability to manage client relationships, large teams, and supervise projects effectively.
4. Drive and nurture client relationships, leveraging internal senior-level relationships.
5. Lead meetings, share insights, and establish credibility through knowledge sharing.
6. Develop and implement strategies aligned with client objectives, including public affairs plans and resource management.
7. Drive business development and manage proposal processes.
8. Possess a network of trusted experts in finance, media, and regulatory environments.
9. Have solid project management experience, overseeing teams and deliverables.
10. Formulate and lead strategic stakeholder engagements.
11. Exhibit exceptional presentation, writing, and analytical skills, capable of working under tight deadlines.
