Ph3Job Description /h3 pJoin AbbVie as a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) in Rheumatology and play a key role in advancing scientific excellence across Belgium by serving as a trusted scientific partner to healthcare professionals, external experts, and key stakeholders within the Rheumatology community. /p pThe medical field-based role focuses on medical and scientific engagement with AbbVie stakeholders, including research and healthcare professionals, payers, and providers. /p pThe focus of this role is on interacting with, and supporting the needs of Tiered External Experts in the therapeutic area of interest and geographic area allocated. /p h3Responsibilities /h3 ul liProvide scientific and technical leadership to ensure professional and credible relationships with thought leaders and external experts of strategic importance to AbbVie. /li liAssist in the initiation, oversight and follow up of assigned clinical studies and medical projects initiated within the therapeutic area for which the MSL carries responsibility (e.g. post marketing clinical activities such as registry/database projects, epidemiological surveys, post‑authorization studies (phase IV, …) /li liServe as a point of contact within the Medical Affairs team for thought leaders and external experts within an assigned geographic area to satisfy their needs for scientific knowledge in a therapeutic area and, when requested, relevant AbbVie medicines, to support their safe, effective and appropriate use. Use available communication channels including digital channels to optimize scientific communication with External Expert (EE), based on their educational needs. /li liUpon request, assist physicians with requests for access to AbbVie medicines on early access programs, subject to all applicable legal and regulatory requirements. /li liDeliver credible presentations on scientific matters to physicians, individually or in groups (meetings, clinical sessions, etc.), where requested. /li liProvide key thought leaders / external experts and internal medical and clinical teams with scientific and technical support for publications of scientific or medical interest. /li liSupport internal teams such as sales and marketing and members of the Affiliate Brand Team to develop their scientific and technical expertise through the delivery of scientific update presentations. /li liWork collaboratively and cross‑functionally with other in‑field members while retaining functional independence. /li liFacilitate medical and scientific field intelligence – for example, competitor research and medical strategies, educational activities – and communicate, where appropriate, within the Company. You detect signals from external experts and translate these into insights, opportunities/threats for the company. /li liAttend relevant scientific meetings and conferences. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop summaries of key data and other scientifically relevant information to inform AbbVie strategic priorities and initiatives. /li liSupportive collaboration with Clinical Research, development team and Real World Evidence team to facilitate successful set up of studies and support related recruitment. /li liDeveloping and maintaining expertise in specific relevant therapeutic area, attending scientific society meetings and local, global scientific medical meetings. /li liDeveloping preliminary contacts in EEs and identifying UMN in specific disease, gaining scientific expertise to support market access and pre‑launch internal activities. /li liPlan field activity and EE engagement plans using optimally the tools provided (Veeva, SIP, SCL, Dashboards…) aligned with Playbook requirements. Ensure excellence in field activity execution, reporting and follow up. /li /ul h3Qualifications /h3 ul liMaster degree in a relevant scientific discipline is required and demonstrated experience in Medical Affairs will be considered. /li liExperience in Immunology and particularly in Rheumatology is a plus. /li liExperience in developing and maintaining expert knowledge for a therapeutic area, and in medical research in general. /li liDynamic and proactive with growth mindset. /li liExperience in developing networks with External Experts. /li liKnowledge of the pharmaceutical environment and the role of Medical Affairs to advance the medical and scientific objectives of a pharmaceutical company. /li liKnowledge in the scientific methods applied to clinical research and current legislative/regulatory controls applicable to this research. /li liAbility to comprehensively learn about new subject areas and environments. /li liExcellent written and spoken communication and presentation skills, with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with thought leaders, physicians and other healthcare decision makers. /li liDemonstrated ability to organize, strong project management and planning skills and capability to prioritize and work effectively in a constantly changing environment. /li liHigh Customer orientation. /li liProficiency in French, Dutch and English is required for the role. /li liTeam player – strong collaboration with other infield team members. /li liStrong commitment to compliance with the relevant rules and procedures, and to scientific quality and integrity. /li /ul pAbbVie is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to operating with integrity, driving innovation, transforming lives and serving our community.
