Role - Freelance Interim Business Controller – 6 Months

Location: Hasselt (3 days on-site / 2 days remote)

Contract: Full-time

Duration: 6 months

Context

We are looking for a senior Interim Business Controller to reinforce the controlling team during a 6-month assignment. The role is primarily focused on business controlling within a complex and fast-paced environment.

The business unit is structured across multiple entities, including international operations. Responsibilities within the team are divided across different scopes, and this role will provide support across these areas where required.

You will operate in a high-demand environment with a significant workload and multiple ongoing topics, requiring strong analytical skills and the ability to support timely decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support business controlling activities within the assigned scope
• Perform detailed financial analysis (actuals vs. budget vs. forecast)
• Act as a business partner to stakeholders, providing insights to support decision-making
• Monitor and analyse KPIs and financial performance across different entities
• Support investment controlling and CAPEX follow-up
• Contribute to budgeting and forecasting processes
• Strengthen financial control and improve the overall level of controlling within the team
• Handle day-to-day controlling tasks to ensure continuity
• Support various projects and improvement initiatives within the finance function

Profile

• Senior controller with strong experience in business controlling (essential)
• Experience working in a complex, multi-entity environment
• Strong background in project-based work or project controlling
• Excellent analytical capabilities with a hands-on approach
• Comfortable working under pressure in a high-volume, fast-paced setting
• Proactive, structured, and solution-oriented
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders

Technical Skills

• SAP (proficient user required)
• Advanced Excel and strong financial modelling skills

Languages

• Fluent Dutch is required
