Software Specialist Brussels | Hybrid Work Model About the Role For one of our key clients in the energy and infrastructure sector, we are looking for a Software Specialist who will play a central role in the integration, configuration, and optimization of software components within complex product environments. The Software Specialist acts as the bridge between business needs and technical implementation, ensuring that customer requirements are effectively translated into scalable and compliant software solutions. Key Responsibilities Development Integrate customer requirements by performing and/or coordinating configurations of various software components. Conduct fit-gap analyses to determine which requirements can be met through configuration and which require custom development. Define functional and technical requirements for custom developments, translating user stories into structured specifications and consolidated functional designs. Oversee the integration and adaptation of software into the broader IT landscape and ensure alignment with other systems and platforms. Contribute actively to solution architecture to ensure both functional and non-functional requirements are met. Support RFP processes by defining and evaluating technical requirements. Ensure adherence to internal IT standards, including security, compliance, and technology guidelines. Support testing activities for highly specialized features when required. Operations Contribute actively to Incident and Problem Management processes, providing functional and domain expertise. Support the maintenance organization, including supplier coordination, SLA/KPI monitoring, and identification of improvement opportunities. Coordinate with internal functional and technical teams during the operational phase when needed. Product Management Proactively propose and review evolutions to the functional and technical roadmap in alignment with the Product Owner’s vision. Support IT cost estimations (budget and resource planning) in collaboration with the Tech Lead. Contribute to license negotiations, SLA definitions, and supplier management activities. Profile & Requirements Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Experience in software integration, configuration, or solution management. Proven experience performing fit-gap analyses and defining functional and technical requirements. Strong understanding of software architecture principles and IT standards (security, compliance, governance). Familiarity with ITSM processes (Incident & Problem Management). In-depth knowledge of specific software solutions and their configuration and integration capabilities. Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset. Proactive, autonomous, and structured working style. Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. Good command of Dutch and/or French, and English.
