We are seeking an experienced Steel Structures Engineer to join a major industrial decarbonisation programme on a consulting or freelance basis (18 month contract). The role supports both the design and execution phases of a large‑scale industrial production line project at an operational manufacturing site in Belgium.
Reporting directly to the Lead Civil Works & Structures Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that all steel structures related to production facilities and supporting infrastructure are designed, implemented, and constructed in compliance with project requirements and European standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the Lead Civil Works & Structures Manager in overseeing structural and steelwork engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle, from detailed design through construction and installation.
* Contribute to the engineering review, coordination, and on‑site implementation of steel structures for new production lines and the upgrade of existing industrial facilities.
* Ensure that structural frame assembly and installation works are executed in accordance with European standards, project specifications, and quality requirements.
* Participate in coordination meetings with contractors, designers, and site teams to resolve technical issues related to steel structures.
Requirements
* Strong working knowledge of European standards related to steel structures, quality control, and structural frame assembly (e.g. Eurocodes).
* Proficiency in AutoCAD; knowledge of additional structural design or analysis software is an asset.
* Fluent in French and English
* Ability and willingness to work on‑site in Belgium for the full duration of the assignment.
