Overview:
For our Data Protection, IP & Technology practice, BDO Legal is looking for a Senior Associate with strong expertise in data protection (GDPR) and technology-related matters. Knowledge of intellectual property law (including copyright and trademarks) and emerging regulations such as AI and the Data Act is considered an asset.

What will you be doing?:
As a Senior Associate, you play an important role within our Data Protection, IP & Technology practice. You act as a trusted legal advisor to clients, manage complex files independently and contribute to the day-to-day coordination and supervision of junior team members. You work closely with partners and managing associates while taking ownership of your matters.
Your responsibilities
* Advising clients on GDPR and data protection matters, including governance, compliance trajectories and audits.
* Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial, IT and data-related contracts.
* Advising clients on Data Act, AI regulation, copyright and trademark law, as part of broader technology-driven projects.
* Monitoring legal and regulatory developments and translating them into clear, pragmatic and business-oriented advice.
* Managing files autonomously, with a strong focus on quality, ownership and client satisfaction.
* Supervising and mentoring junior associates and trainees, and reviewing their work.
* Providing constructive feedback and contributing to the professional development of junior colleagues.
* Sharing knowledge within the team through internal trainings and collaboration.
* Building and maintaining long-term client relationships.
* Identifying opportunities for cross-selling within BDO Legal and the wider BDO network.
* Contributing to client proposals, pitches and publications.
* Acting as an ambassador of BDO Legal, reflecting our values of quality, integrity and entrepreneurship.
What do you bring to the table?:
You are a motivated and responsible lawyer with a strong interest in technology-driven legal domains and a desire to grow within a dynamic law firm.
You bring:
* A Master's degree in Law, with a required additional specialisation in data protection, intellectual property or technology law.
* At least 5 years of relevant experience in a law firm.
* Strong expertise in GDPR and contract law (essential).
* Knowledge of and interest in the Data Act, AI regulation, copyright and trademark law.
* The ability to work independently, with a high sense of responsibility and ownership.
* A collaborative mindset and interest in mentoring and coaching junior colleagues.
* Commercial awareness and an eye for client needs.
* Fluency in Dutch, French and English.
