Our client, active in the defense sector, is looking for a Lead System Engineer Consultant to support the development and delivery of complex defense and security systems. Position Summary As a Lead System Engineer Consultant, you will be responsible for leading multidisciplinary engineering activities across complex, mission-critical systems. You will act as the technical focal point between the customer, project management, and engineering teams, ensuring that the proposed system solutions meet operational, performance, quality, and contractual requirements throughout the full development lifecycle. You will also manage and coordinate an engineering team of approximately 10 to 15 engineers, promoting technical excellence, collaboration, and efficient project execution. Key Responsibilities Lead and coordinate a team of 10 to 15 system, software, hardware, and integration engineers. Define and maintain system architecture, requirements, and technical baselines. Manage system engineering activities throughout the full V-cycle development process. Translate customer and operational needs into technical requirements and system specifications. Ensure requirements traceability, consistency, and verification readiness. Coordinate interfaces between internal engineering disciplines and external stakeholders. Conduct technical reviews, design reviews, and engineering decision boards. Identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks and opportunities. Support project planning, resource allocation, and workload prioritization. Ensure compliance with defense, safety, cybersecurity, and quality standards. Contribute to proposal preparation, feasibility studies, and technical roadmaps. Support integration, validation, qualification, and customer acceptance activities. Report technical progress, issues, and recommendations to project management and customer representatives. Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices. Profile / Requirements : Required Skills Strong knowledge of Systems Engineering methodologies and standards. Experience with requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS, Polarion, Jama, or equivalent. Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering concepts. Experience in defense, aerospace, transportation, or another safety-critical industry. Good understanding of software, hardware, integration, verification, and validation activities. Strong technical leadership and risk management capabilities. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills. Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in an international environment. Desired Qualifications Master's degree in Engineering or an equivalent technical discipline. INCOSE certification is considered an asset. Experience with complex mission-critical systems. Knowledge of configuration management and systems integration processes.
