Customs Manager - EMEA Location: Sint-Niklaas (Hybrid Work Model - 3 days in office) Reports to: Senior Manager, Customs Compliance (EMEA) Why Join Us? You'll work with diverse teams across continents, ensuring our products move seamlessly and compliantly across borders. Your Impact As a Customs Manager, you will play a critical role in supporting the Senior Customs Operations Manager ensuring our import and export operations meet all legal and business requirements and managing a team of customs professionals in different EU countries and the UK. You'll be part of a high-performing team that supports compliance across multiple regions, with a strong focus on: Customs Compliance: Ensure adherence to customs regulations for shipments from Asia Pacific and Latin America to the EU and UK. Manage in-country customs team: support the local country teams in operational execution of the in-and outbound flows from and to bonded warehouses. Trade Expertise: support the senior manager on questions on free trade agreements, product classification, and customs valuation to support smooth operations. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal departments (e.g., procurement, logistics, legal) and external stakeholders (e.g., customs authorities, brokers, carriers) to monitor and optimize product flows. AEO & SOP Management: Guide and take ownership of the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) monitoring in several EU countries and the UK, internal audits, and harmonization of standard operating procedures. Process Improvement: Audit customs documentation flows and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Provide guidance, advice, and training for direct reports split across regional teams What You Bring Bachelor's degree in Economics, Law, Supply Chain, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 5-10 years of progressive experience in customs or trade compliance. Strong understanding of customs legislation and operational processes. People management skills to manage smaller in-country teams, including performance management, and resource planning Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to manage complex data sets. Fluent in English (written and verbal); additional languages are a plus. Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant systems. Work Environment & Travel Hybrid Work Model: Enjoy the flexibility of working remote for 2 days a week while staying connected with your colleagues across Europe. Travel Expectations: Occasional travel within Europe is required to support audits, team collaboration, and engagement with customs authorities and external partners.
