Nysus is partnering with one of Hong Kong's most prestigious top-tier secondary schools to manage their elite robotics program. We are seeking a High-Performance Robotics Instructor to lead training for students (Grade 5–10) preparing for the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC).
You will be mentoring one of the strongest robotics teams in Asia—teams that have ranked Top 50 globally and hold accolades from international competitions. We need engineers and educators who can bridge the gap between classroom theory and industrial application.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Mentorship: Guide student teams through the full engineering lifecycle—from strategic game analysis and CAD design (OnShape) to fabrication and Java programming. You will act as a technical advisor, helping students troubleshoot complex mechanical and software issues without doing the work for them.
Curriculum Design & Delivery: Develop and lead hands-on workshops for our "Junior Academy" (Grade 5-10) and coach senior competitive teams. You will be responsible for designing lesson plans that transition students from block coding to syntax-based programming (Java) and from plastic kits to custom metal fabrication.
Event Management: Play a key role in organizing large-scale events. This involves logistics planning, field setup, and managing volunteer teams.
Operational Excellence: Oversee the operations of the laboratory. This includes enforcing workshop safety protocols, managing a complex inventory of REV/GoBILDA parts, maintaining 3D printers and CNC machines, and ensuring the workspace is competition-ready.
Soft Skills Coaching: Train students in the essential non-technical skills required for success. This includes project management (AGILE/SCRUM), public speaking for judge interviews, and guiding the creation of the "Engineering Portfolio" documentation required for awards.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The Engineer: You have a background (Undergraduate or above) in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or a related STEM field.
The Competitor: Prior experience in FIRST (FRC/FTC), VEX, Robomaster, or any world class competition is highly preferred. You understand the pressure of the "match clock."
The Communicator: Native or Near-Native Cantonese proficiency is preferred. You must be able to explain PID loops and Odometry to 12-year-olds clearly and confidently.
The Mentor: You have experience working with high-performing youth. You know how to balance "helping them win" with "letting them fail and learn."
PREFERRED TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
Hardware: Familiarity with REV Control System and GoBILDA build systems.
Software: Proficiency in Java (Android Studio) is a distinct advantage. Experience with Git/GitHub is a plus.
Design: Proficiency in CAD software (OnShape, SolidWorks, or Fusion 360).
