Your role:
The Advanced Purchasing Buyer reports to the Advanced Purchasing Manager and is responsible for all purchasing activities during the early phases of product and program development, prior to customer award and industrialization. This role supports the business by providing cost benchmarks, indicative quote estimations, and supplier input for customer quotations. Additionally, it identifies new suppliers, technologies, and sourcing opportunities to ensure competitive and innovative solutions. Working closely with engineering and cross-functional teams, the Advanced Purchasing Buyer plays a key role in prototype builds, concept validation, and new product introduction, embedding purchasing strategies from the start of the development cycle.
Responsiblities
Early-Phase Costing & Quotation Support
Prepare cost benchmarks and indicative quotes.
Gather supplier input for customer RFQs.
Conduct cost modeling and feasibility analysis.
Prototype & New Product Development Support
Collaborate with engineering to integrate suppliers in early development phases.
Ensure feasibility, quality, and technical compliance for prototypes and concepts.
Supplier & Technology Scouting
Identify and qualify new suppliers and technologies.
Perform risk assessments and align sourcing strategies with long-term goals.
Decision-Making Authority
Recommend suppliers during early development.
Validate quotes and place prototype orders within approved budgets.
Evaluate new technologies and suppliers for strategic sourcing.
Collaboration & Communication
Regular interaction with internal departments such as Engineering, Sales, MP&L, and Global Purchasing.
External communication with customers and suppliers.
