JOB DESCRIPTION Kuehne + Nagel is seeking a Carrier Manager/Logistics Transport Engineer for its Contract Logistics division. Your Role
As a Carrier Manager, you will be responsible for Supply Chain Design, Strategic Procurement, and Carrier Management for both new and existing customers. You are ambitious, results-driven, highly innovative, and entrepreneurial. Transport logistics experience is essential. You will be mainly based in Veghel and will also be deployed to our sites in Utrecht, Tiel, Tessenderlo and Geel. This is a fulltime position.
Your Responsibilities
1. Translate supply chain requirements from internal (Business Unit/Operations) and external (customers) stakeholders into efficient transport solutions.
2. Collect and analyze logistics data through questionnaires, interviews, system data extraction, observations, and floor sampling.
3. Research and analyze external transport market data to support decision-making.
4. Conduct carrier sourcing activities and tenders, including e-auctions, reverse auctions, and supplier summits.
5. Draft contract agreements, SOPs, and SLAs in collaboration with Business Units, Legal, and Operations teams.
6. Develop presentations and proposals, providing clear insights into feasibility and recommended solutions.
7. Analyze existing operational processes to identify and implement efficiency improvements.
8. Build and maintain strategic partnerships with carriers, ensuring performance through KPIs, MBRs, and QBRs.
Your Skills and Experiences
9. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (HBO/University level) in a relevant field, preferably in a commercial direction.
10. 3 years of experience in a similar role within logistics, such as Logistics Engineering or Transport Procurement.
11. Proficiency in calculation tools and handling large data sets.
12. Strong analytical skills, capable of evaluating complex logistics challenges and identifying cost drivers.
13. Ideally, familiarity with TMS, FA&P systems, and tender platforms (., Ariba, TI Contract).
14. Commercially minded with excellent communication and negotiation skills.
15. Outstanding planning and organizational abilities, with the capability to motivate others.
16. Resilient and proactive self-starter, able to manage multiple projects under pressure.
17. Fluent in English (spoken and written). Knowledge of additional EU languages—especially Dutch, German, or French—is a plus.
