Job Description:
The Senior Business Analyst will play a key role in the
DWHR Reports Rationalization project
, focusing on analyzing and optimizing the existing reporting landscape across multiple Operating Units (OUs) of a retail client in Belgium.
This role involves working closely with business stakeholders, Data & Analytics teams, and technical teams to evaluate and streamline SAP BO reports while supporting the transition toward
Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDWH)
and
Power BI–based reporting solutions
.
The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical thinking, deep knowledge of reporting ecosystems, and excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
Key Responsibilities
1. Report Inventory, Analysis & Enrichment
* Collect, review, and validate metadata for SAP BO, iRAP, and local reports.
* Enrich report batches following the DWHR Rationalization Playbook.
* Map report owners, consumers, usage patterns, data sources, universes, SQL scripts, and KPIs.
2. Report Rationalization
* Apply rationalization strategies: Retire, Replace, Refactor, Rebuild.
* Conduct relevance and usage analysis based on business alignment and technical dependencies.
* Utilize lineage analysis, similarity matrices, and clustering techniques.
* Facilitate workshops to finalize rationalization decisions with business teams.
3. Stakeholder Engagement & Workshops
* Lead workshops to review enriched report inventories.
* Collaborate with OU leads and functional stakeholders to validate requirements.
* Document business expectations and approved outcomes.
4. Requirements Gathering & Wireframing
* Gather functional requirements for Power BI reports and KPIs.
* Develop report wireframes in collaboration with stakeholders.
* Ensure alignment with business processes, semantic models, and future data architecture.
5. Lineage, Metadata & Data Modeling Support
* Assist technical teams in building end-to-end lineage from source systems to reports.
* Validate fact, dimension, metric, and calculation mappings.
* Maintain accurate metadata for governance tools such as Collibra.
6. Estimation & Planning Support
* Provide inputs for effort estimation (S/M/L/XL complexity).
* Assess complexity based on KPIs, transformations, visual components, and modeling needs.
7. Cross-Functional Collaboration
* Work with Migration Accelerator teams on metadata extraction and automation validation.
* Coordinate with Data Modeling teams on fact/dimension design.
* Support Power BI developers with visualization and DAX requirements.
* Collaborate with Governance teams for catalog updates and lineage publishing.
8. Documentation & Governance
* Prepare analysis documentation, process documents, sign-off materials, and presentations.
* Ensure adherence to project playbooks and recommend process improvements.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Functional Skills
* Strong background in business analysis within enterprise reporting environments.
* Ability to analyze large report inventories and identify consolidation opportunities.
* Experience with KPI mapping, metrics, and business process workflows.
* Strong workshop facilitation and requirements gathering experience.
Technical Skills
* Working knowledge of SAP BO, iRAP, SQL scripts, universes, and reporting metadata.
* Understanding of data warehousing concepts (facts, dimensions, lineage).
* Familiarity with Power BI, semantic models, and basic DAX concepts.
* Experience with data lineage and governance tools (e.g., Collibra) is a plus.
