TVH is looking to reinforce its legal team with a motivated Legal Counsel experienced in IT contracting and regulations relating to AI, cybersecurity and data. As Legal Counsel, you will partner with TVH’s business teams worldwide to achieve strategic objectives, balancing legally sound and business-oriented solutions.
Responsibilities
* Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of contracts, and advise business teams on various legal matters, mainly in the context of IT (e.g., SaaS, licensing), data protection compliance, e-commerce, AI, cybersecurity and the Data Act.
* Set up and implement required strategies, frameworks and documentation to ensure compliance with data (protection) legislation, and assist in developing policy frameworks within the Group.
* Play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with new regulations (e.g., AI Act, Data Act, Cyber Resilience Act, NIS 2) while supporting innovative projects, and contribute to the definition of TVH strategy in connection with data and AI initiatives.
* Consistently reflect on how the legal team’s work can be organized more efficiently, e.g., by establishing templates or policies, effective changes in legal or cross-departmental processes, or using (tech) tools.
* Ensure that the legal function, currently operating mainly from the company’s headquarters in Belgium, supports the business globally.
* Liaise with external lawyers and other service providers, evaluating providers that can deliver excellent value for money.
* Keep up to date with relevant legal evolutions and developments, apply daily, share knowledge within the legal team, and provide training more broadly throughout the organization.
Qualifications
* Belgian Master degree in Law.
* At least 3-5 years of professional experience, primarily in IT contracting, data protection, AI, cybersecurity and general contract law.
* Excellent drafting skills and ability to summarize and communicate complex legal issues concisely.
* Experience with IP law is a plus.
* Digital mindset and passion for new developments in AI and data regulations.
* Team player, honest, hands-on, convincing.
* Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, combined with the ability to take a strategic view on challenges facing the business, and eager to work in a dynamic environment.
* Business-minded, excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Fluent in Dutch and English, good knowledge of French.
