About the Role:
We are seeking a freelance Mechanical Engineer with hands-on experience in Autodesk Inventor to support the design and development of custom machinery and automated systems. You will collaborate with our engineering team to create robust, efficient, and manufacturable mechanical solutions for a variety of industrial applications.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and model mechanical components, assemblies, and complete machines in Autodesk Inventor
* Produce detailed 2D drawings, BOMs, and assembly instructions for manufacturing
* Perform design reviews and make improvements for functionality, safety, and cost efficiency
* Collaborate with electrical, controls, and production teams to ensure seamless integration
* Support prototype builds and provide technical input during assembly and testing phases
Requirements:
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification
* Minimum 3 years of professional experience using Autodesk Inventor in a machine-building environment
* Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes (machining, welding, sheet metal, etc.)
* Good understanding of industrial automation and mechanical motion systems
* Fluent in English (spoken and written); Dutch or French is a plus
* Based in Belgium or available to collaborate with Belgian-based teams
Nice to Have:
* Experience with pneumatic or hydraulic systems
* Knowledge of FEA or motion analysis tools
* Familiarity with industry standards and CE marking requirements
