We are currently looking for a Senior Enterprise Architect (Service) to join a strategic transformation program within a key player in the Belgian energy landscape. In this role, you will contribute to shaping a sustainable, secure, and future-proof IT architecture, supporting the evolution of a reliable and green energy infrastructure.
Working closely with both internal teams and external experts, you will play a key role in defining architecture governance, guiding strategic decisions, and ensuring alignment across business and IT domains.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture Governance & Strategy
* Lead the definition and continuous improvement of the architecture governance framework (principles, standards, policies, and reference architectures).
* Facilitate Architecture Review Board (ARB) sessions, including preparation of decision packs, traceability, and escalation paths.
* Manage and maintain the Architecture Vision Document and contribute to the enterprise-wide IT roadmap.
Operating Model & Alignment
* Support the implementation of a federated target operating model aligned with digital platform strategies.
* Translate platform guardrails into actionable guidance for delivery teams.
* Ensure alignment between architecture processes and IT management processes (e.g., Project Portfolio Management, IT Service Management).
Stakeholder Management & Communication
* Act as a trusted advisor to senior business and IT stakeholders.
* Communicate application strategy and architecture processes across the organization.
* Coach and guide architecture roles and promote best practices across teams.
Architecture Analysis & Decision Support
* Conduct cross-domain trade-off analyses (e.g., ATAM, CBAM) and provide well-founded architectural recommendations.
* Analyze business and IT gaps in collaboration with business architecture teams.
* Support strategic studies, evaluations, and decision-making processes.
Architecture Repository & Compliance
* Maintain the enterprise architecture repository as a single source of truth (including ADRs and compliance levels).
* Perform Architecture Alignment Assessments at key project milestones (go/no-go decisions).
* Conduct Architecture Compliance Reviews and escalate deviations where required.
Application & Data Architecture
* Guide the evolution of the application portfolio in collaboration with stakeholders.
* Define and govern enterprise data architecture standards, including data modelling and integration patterns.
* Ensure alignment of initiative-level designs with enterprise standards.
Your Profile
* Minimum 10 years of experience in an Enterprise Architecture role.
* Proven experience with Architecture Governance and facilitating ARB sessions.
* Strong knowledge of architecture frameworks and methodologies such as TOGAF, ArchiMate, ITIL, and Domain-Driven Design.
* Experience with cloud-native architectures, platform governance, and reference architecture adoption.
* Familiarity with microservices and event-driven architectures.
* Experience with architecture and modelling tools (e.g., Sparx Enterprise Architect, LeanIX or similar).
* Strong analytical mindset with experience in cost-benefit and trade-off analysis methods (ATAM, CBAM).
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across all organizational levels.
* Fluent in English; knowledge of French, Dutch, or German is a plus.
* Experience in the energy or utilities sector is an asset.
* Experience in transformation, merger, or acquisition contexts is a plus.
