About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Freelance Senior Electrical Engineer to support EPLAN drawing review and high-voltage system calculations for major Substation Projects. The successful candidate will ensure that all electrical design deliverables meet the highest technical and safety standards while maintaining compliance with national and international regulations.
Key Responsibilities
* Review and validate electrical drawings and schematics in EPLAN for HV substations (30kV–400kV).
* Carry out and verify HV network studies including load flow, short-circuit, and protection coordination analyses using Caneco, ETAP, or DigSILENT PowerFactory.
* Ensure electrical designs comply with IEC, EN, and AREI/RGIE standards.
* Review and approve protection and control diagrams, single-line diagrams, and earthing layouts.
* Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to resolve technical issues.
* Provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and support design standardization.
* Participate in design reviews, FAT/SAT, and commissioning support when required.
Profile / Requirements
* Degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
* Minimum 8 years of experience in high-voltage substation design or power system engineering.
* Strong knowledge of EPLAN Electric P8 for design review and documentation.
* Proven experience performing HV studies in Caneco, ETAP, or DigSILENT PowerFactory.
* In-depth understanding of protection systems, earthing, and HV equipment.
* Fluent in English and Dutch; French is an advantage.
* Operates as a freelancer (valid VAT number) in Belgium or the EU.
