Job Description – Senior Network Security Engineer
We are seeking a senior, hands-on Network Security Engineer with expert firewall and routing skills, strong operational reliability, the ability to work independently, and the flexibility to thrive in a large, complex, bilingual (NL/FR) environment.
1. Role Overview
The Senior Network Security Engineer will:
Design, secure, and optimize the network (firewalls, VPN, proxies, load balancers, etc.)
Prevent, detect, and resolve security incidents
Configure and manage firewalls and network security components
Perform deep-dive analysis of network issues
Understand cloud security principles and ZTNA
Operate efficiently while contributing to architectural decisions when needed
This is not a pure operational role and not a pure architectural role.
It requires a senior engineer capable of independently handling complex security operations.

Basic scripting skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
3. Essential Soft Skills
The ideal candidate:
Communicates clearly, including with non-technical teams
Performs well under pressure (including P1 incidents and urgent on-site interventions)
Works autonomously while collaborating effectively
Manages priorities efficiently
Learns new technologies quickly
Operates confidently in large, complex environments
4. Language Requirements
Dutch or French: excellent
Second language (FR or NL): good
English: professional proficiency
5. Practical & Operational Expectations
The engineer must be able to:
Be on-site three times per week
Perform night interventions when required
Arrive on-site within 30 minutes for P1 incidents whenever possible
Ideally hold certifications such as:
Palo Alto
Cisco
Fortinet
Check Point
or equivalent security/networking certifications
6. Ideal Candidate Profile
We are targeting a senior professional with:
10+ years of experience in networking and security
Strong hands-on expertise (configuration, troubleshooting, migrations, incident management)
Ability to independently perform complex Palo Alto operations
Experience working in large enterprise infrastructures
Availability for on-site presence and on-call interventions
