We are looking for a Junior Linux System Administrator ( 1-3 years of experience) to join our client, a state government agency.
You will assist in managing and maintaining the infrastructure and database environments supporting our client. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their career to grow in a supportive environment and gain experience in enterprise systems.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist in monitoring and maintaining Linux systems and databases.
* Support the team in troubleshooting system issues and documenting solutions.
* Help maintain hardware in the primary and disaster recovery data centers.
* Participate in daily meetings to provide updates on system status and potential solutions.
* Monitor system performance and logs and escalate issues when needed.
* Follow security best practices and help identify potential improvements.
Required Skills and Experience:
* 1–3 years of experience in Linux system administration
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or a related field.
* Understanding of Linux (RHEL preferred) and networking (WAN/LAN).
* Eagerness to learn about zLinux environments and enterprise infrastructure.
* Good written and verbal communication in English; knowledge of French or Dutch is a plus.
* Interest in automating tasks using scripting (Bash, Ansible, Python)
* Security-conscious and proactive problem solver.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
* Experience with monitoring tools (Nagios, Check_MK, Icinga, or equivalent).
* Basic knowledge of databases (Db2 or similar).
* Optional: certifications such as Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or equivalent.
