Job SummaryThe Safety Assistant is responsible for ensuring the maintenance of aviation safety standards throughout the organisation. Their primary duties encompass the verification of compliance with established safety procedures and regulatory requirements, the execution of routine safety inspections, and the comprehensive investigation of incidents.Through the systematic monitoring of adherence to safety protocols and the provision of support during audit processes, the Safety Assistant makes a significant contribution to the establishment and preservation of a secure working environment, whilst facilitating the proactive identification and mitigation of potential safety hazards.
Job ResponsibilitiesRetrieve CCTV footage upon explicit requestConduct safety checks as prescribed by the BCAAParticipate in incident investigations, prepare investigation reports, and develop corrective actions in collaboration with operational managementFollow up and implement safety proceduresMonitor and address employees regarding safety practicesInvestigate aviation safety incidentsProvide support during (safety) auditsAssist in reporting incidents to the relevant authoritiesTake over tasks in the absence of QHSEFollows clearly prescribed internal and external safety rules (SOP/LOP)The position is primarily assigned to one station in Belgium, but the employee is required to work at other stations when necessaryEnsure compliance with safety rulesInvestigate and provide administrative follow-up on incidentsFormal contact with external parties to ensure the execution and adherence to safety rulesContact with all relevant internal parties to ensure the application of safety rulesContact with BCAA regarding deviations, incidents, questions, and reportsEnsure compliance with environmental legislation and apply internal environmental policies and procedures as part of daily responsibilities
Qualifications and CompetenciesSafety drivenKnowledge of BCAA and airport regulationsBasic knowledge of Microsoft OfficeBasic understanding of auditsFlexibility in working hours, including occasional weekend and night shiftsAt least 12 months of experience in aviationAbility to communicate fluently (verbal and written) in French, Dutch, and EnglishAbility to provide information and explain procedures
