Wolcen is searching for a Lead Environment Artist for its new work in progress titled “Gods, Death & Reapers.” The role reports to the Senior Producer and you will lead a 9-person Art team from different technical backgrounds, with a small outsourced team as well. A large portion of the role (approximately 70%) focuses on team management, so it is essential that the person joining can manage and give feedback efficiently and transcribe the art direction of the game projects. The ideal candidate will be actively involved in projects, be proactive, and propose solutions that fit our technical and production scopes and constraints.
This is a fully remote role, so you can be located anywhere in the European region.
Qualifications & Skills
* Worked on at least one game released as a Lead Environment Artist, or several games released as a Senior Environment Artist.
* Experience coordinating environment art teams (lighting artists, texture artists, level artists, props artists, etc.), managing different levels of seniority, and providing hands-on feedback to the team.
* Technical know-how within our technical constraints and ability to safeguard performance.
* Confident with real-time editors (Unreal Engine).
* Familiar with procedural workflows (Houdini). Ability to manage and plan tasks for procedural artists.
* Ability to meet deadlines and work independently, with regular updates.
* Advanced English skills, both written and spoken.
* Strong leadership to mentor and manage team members.

* Offer clear solutions when translating concepts to art.
* Stay aware of the latest technical developments that could benefit environment quality and product.
* Bridge level design and level art; adjust environments to match gameplay expectations.
* Follow up on the production of the team with the art director and producers; organize work based on priorities and understand how management choices impact production workflow.
* Provide daily feedback and test assets directly in the engine to guarantee quality of assets.
* Balance team growth with challenging artists to deliver on time.
* Raise the team’s skill level, whether juniors or seniors.
* Manage, supply, and provide feedback on outsourced assets with the outsource manager to increase production velocity and ensure outsourced assets meet in-house asset quality.
