Job purpose
The R&D Mechanical Engineer will play a key role in shaping the next generation of the company’s breakthrough medical devices. This includes defining, designing and prototyping innovative solutions, as well as testing and optimizing functionality of the Cryotherapeutics current system.
We are looking for a technology enthusiast, willing to dive deep into a unique cutting-edge medical device solution featuring fluidic mechanics, electronics, electro-mechanical and software components. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with 3D CAD and associated version control (ideally with SolidWorks and 3DExperience), rapid prototyping (3D printing) and manufacturing. Experience of projects involving UX and industrial design is a strong plus.
The right candidate is someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, works independently under the guidance of the R&D Manager, and is a natural problem solver, making continuous improvements, and finding smart solutions to complex problems.
Duties and responsibilities
Design and prototype the fluidic circuit and the mechanical structure of the future generation of the company’s products.
Manage suppliers, ensuring timely delivery of production deliverables.
Select and purchase materials and services to support development and manufacturing.
Interface with design and testing partners, including laboratories, to support compliance testing.
Collaborate with the R&D team to maintain, repair and apply design changes to the existing company’s proprietary devices.
Support systems engineering activities such as defining the requirements, managing design controls and producing reports.
Key characteristics and skills
Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Knowledge of SolidWorks
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Ability to work closely and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
Detail- and quality-oriented mindset
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and French
An open, positive and outgoing personality is a plus
The following experience would be an asset
Fluidic Engineering
IEC 60601: Product Safety Standards for Medical Devices
Knowledge of ISO13485 or previous experience in medical device industry
Working conditions
Company located in Liège area, Belgium
Full-time employment
Occasional international travel (up to 10 days per year)
Primarily office-based, with the possibility of remote work based on schedule and project priorities
