About the Role

As a Group Head of Fire Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our company's fire engineering strategies and risk management practices on a global scale. This senior position demands exceptional leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to navigate complex projects with ease.

Main Responsibilities
">
">
* Liaise with clients, insurers, and project teams to determine fire engineering deliverables and responsibilities on each project.
">
* Initiate pre-consultation meetings with fire certificate permitting authorities to ensure compliance.
">
* Develop fire engineering strategies for projects using engineering principles and write comprehensive technical reports.
">
* Apply national and international standards, including Technical Guidance Document (TGD) B (Ireland), BS, ADB (UK), NFPA, and IBC codes, to carry out work.
">
* Implement client and insurer requirements while integrating them with local codes and regulations.
">
* Define RACI for fire compliance delivery on projects and translate this into the basis of safety for the project.
">
* Oversee compliance with building regulations and codes in the region.
">
* Manage relationships and contracts with sub-consultants and regional bodies.
">
* Liaise with and meet Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ's) or equivalent as necessary.
">
* Lead fire reviews and project meetings, ensuring a full end-to-end project life-cycle approach.
">
* Promote a living safety culture across PM Group projects.
">
* Foster and develop relationships with sub-consultants and within client teams.
">
* Support design teams globally by ensuring all projects have fire engineering aspects covered.
">
* Document best practices for all regions in this discipline.

Core Competencies
">
A general knowledge of fire protection core competencies and their connection to engineering design and building compliance is expected. Typical fire engineering specialism includes an understanding of:

* Codes and regulations

* Compartmentation

* Fire resistance

* Flame spread
">
* Fire fighting requirements (e.g., hydrants, access for fire brigade etc.)

* Clean agent suppression

* Egress
">
* Explosion protection

* Fire alarm, detection, and signaling
">
* Passive fire protection
">
* Performance-based design and analysis

* Process fire safety
">
* Smoke control systems
">
* Structural protection
">
* Sprinkler systems (wet, dry, preaction, foam etc.)

Proficiency in Microsoft suite of software (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, etc.) is also required.

Requirements
">
">
* Hold a Level 8 qualification in engineering, fire engineering, or architecture.
">
* Have 10+ years' experience in a lead role in one of these areas.
">
* Chartered status is preferred but not essential.
">
* Be able to multitask and work on several projects simultaneously.
">
* Have proposal/commercial management experience (advantageous).
">
* Be able to work on/manage resources for multiple projects at the same time.
">
* Have good communication, management & people skills.
">
* Be a self-starter and decision maker with a strong work ethic.
">
* Be a good time manager with the ability to balance multiple priorities.

* Be proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
