FPGA ENGINEER - LEUVEN (BELGIUM) - PERMANENT POSITIONJob Summary:We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated FPGA Engineer to support the development of next-generation electronics for imaging systems used in scientific, medical, aerospace, and industrial applications. This role focuses on implementing real-time digital logic for image acquisition, sensor synchronization, signal conditioning, and high-throughput data transfer.You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and verifying custom FPGA solutions using VHDL, working across the entire development lifecycle - from requirements gathering and architecture definition to simulation, hardware validation, and integration. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to tightly integrated hardware-software solutions and work at the forefront of imaging technology. You will collaborate closely with electronics engineers, embedded software developers, and systems architects in a dynamic, innovation-focused environment.Key Responsibilities:Design, implement, and verify digital logic using VHDL for FPGAs (e.g., Xilinx, Intel/Altera, Lattice).Develop and maintain FPGA cores for high-speed image capture, real-time processing, and sensor control.Integrate FPGAs into imaging systems, interfacing with sensors, processors, memory, and I/O.Perform synthesis, static timing analysis, and resource optimization using tools such as Vivado or Quartus.Simulate designs and verify functionality using tools like ModelSim or Questa.Support lab testing, hardware bring-up, and debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG tools.Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to define system architecture and interface specifications.Write comprehensive documentation including design specifications, test plans, and verification reports.Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.Strong proficiency in VHDL and digital logic design for FPGAs.Experience with FPGA development tools (e.g., Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus).Solid understanding of timing constraints, clock domain crossing, state machines, and FIFOs.Experience interfacing with common digital protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART, LVDS, MIPI, Camera Link).Hands-on experience debugging hardware and verifying designs in lab environments.Familiarity with image sensors or real-time data acquisition is a plus.Understanding of low-latency and high-throughput FPGA design principles.The Offer:A permanent, full-time employment contractA salary & benefits package commensurate with experiencePlease send over your CV to tom.walker@vividresourcing.com or call me on +32 (0) 3 318 00 74.
