GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Operational Support Systems Engineer will support the company’s O&M activities by defining, designing, implementing, and supporting the operational infrastructure systems required for the efficient operation and maintenance of offshore wind projects. This role involves overseeing various systems such as marine communications, vessel tracking, metocean measurements, general-purpose connectivity, and CCTV, ensuring their reliability and performance throughout the development, construction, and operational phases of the offshore wind portfolio. The role requires collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams across multiple geographies.
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Lead the specification, design, implementation and integration of operational support systems, including:
o CCTV and VOIP Systems
o Marine communication systems (UHF, TETRA, Private DMR)
o AIS systems for vessel tracking
o Aid to Navigation systems
o Field general-purpose connectivity systems (WIFI, LTE/4G/5G)
o Metocean measurement sensors and weather forecast services
o Wind resource measurement sensors
o Motion measurement systems for floating substructures
• Identify project stakeholders and ensure that the operational support systems comply with third-party requirements.
• Support the commissioning of operational support systems to ensure correct operation and integration into the company’s fleet-wide platform and tools.
• Collaborate with the Operational Infrastructure and Performance team in developing and maintaining company standards for the integration of new assets, streamlining their development.
• Identify and recommend innovative systems to improve the delivery of operational support systems for the company’s assets.
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
• A degree in a relevant engineering discipline (i.e., Computer networks, Industrial Automation, Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering) is required
• A minimum of 3 years of experience working with similar systems, with a focus on industrial, offshore wind, or marine environments.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES
• Proficiency in designing, deploying, and integrating operational support systems as listed above.
• Strong understanding of network infrastructure, industrial hardware, operational technology requirements, and cloud computing.
• Familiarity with weather and wind resource measurement technologies.
• Knowledge of SCADA and Asset Integrity Monitoring systems.
• Experience with the full project lifecycle, from early requirements definition to commissioning and project handover, is highly recommended
Desirable knowledge:
• HV transmission concepts (e.g., substations, export cables).
• Wind turbine and wind farm topologies.
• Service contract structures in the energy industry.
• Relevant industry standards and regulations.
• Ability to support negotiations during issues, modifications, and upgrades.
• Experience with risk analysis and techno-economic modelling.
LANGUAGES
• The company has an international team of employees, and the working language is English. Candidates need to be fluent in English both spoken and written. Proficiency in other languages will be valued.
