Within VIB technologies we have over 120 staff members.The VIB Flow Core Ghent is one of the leading flow cytometry cores in Europe and provides services to VIB research groups, academic institutions, and industrial partners. Our facility has a broad range of (imaging) flow cytometer analyzers, fluorescence activated cell sorters (FACS) and multiplex devices. The central lab is located at the VIB-UGent Center for Inflammation Research, Technologiepark, Zwijnaarde. We are currently seeking a highly skilled Computational Flow Cytometry Expert to join our dedicated team of five professionals. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in advancing our data analysis services and providing expert guidance to our user base in the analysis of generated data. Additionally, the candidate will be instrumental in expanding our training program offerings, with a particular emphasis on computational cytometry. Your responsibilities will be:Assist researchers with experimental setup, panel design, and data analysis.Help continue to build a high standard quality control and assurance system with a focus on the generated data.Train users and newcomers on best practices for data generation, storage, and analysis.Develop, together with the Head of Core, a training program to keep the core users updated on the latest developments in the field of flow cytometry bioinformatics.Assist with new assay and technology development.Collaborate with other team members to ensure seamless operation and continuous improvement of core services.ProfilePhD/MSc/professional BSc in a relevant field (e.g. Biology, BioInformatics, Computational Biology).Minimum 5 years of experience with high parameter flow cytometry and FACS data analysis.Good knowledge of flow cytometry analysis software (e.g., DiVa, FlowJo). Dedication to serving the scientific community with best-practice flow cytometry data analysis.Proficient experience with programming languages (e.g., R, Python).Motivation to work in a team and closely coordinate with facility users.Strong organizational skills.Eagerness to learn new techniques, expand knowledge and take responsibility.Experience in training is a plus.Team player with excellent communication skills.Ability to work independently in a multidisciplinary team.Good oral and written communication skills in English.
