Piping & Construction Designer (Industrial Projects – Water & Process Installations)
Location: Ghent, Belgium
Contract: Permanent (direct payroll)
About the Role
We are an engineering company active in industrial installations, primarily focused on water reuse and process systems within industrial environments (including petrochemical and utilities projects). Our projects combine prefabricated industrial skids with complex on-site piping installations.
Due to strong growth, increasing project volumes, and the need to strengthen our internal engineering capabilities, we are expanding our team with an experienced Piping & Construction Designer.
You will play a key role in the design, preparation, and practical feasibility of stainless steel and plastic piping systems, working closely with project engineers and site teams.
Your Responsibilities
* Design piping and small construction systems (mainly stainless steel and plastic)
* Produce and maintain 3D models and drawings in Autodesk Inventor
* Review, correct, and recreate client models (e.g. from Navisworks)
* Translate site measurements into accurate designs (experience with 3D scanning on site is a strong plus)
* Prepare work packages when needed:
* Material take-offs and quantities
* Tooling lists
* Installation preparation
* Visit project sites to verify designs and ensure constructability
* Think proactively about feasibility, installation sequence, and practical execution
* Collaborate closely with project engineers and site supervisors
Your Profile
* Proven experience as a Piping Designer / Construction Designer in an industrial environment
* Strong experience with stainless steel piping
* Experience with plastic piping (PVC, PE, PP) is a major advantage (training can be provided if needed)
* Solid 3D CAD experience, preferably with Autodesk Inventor
* Comfortable working with multiple software packages
* Hands-on mindset: able to go on site and understand real-world constraints
* Strong technical insight – you design what can actually be built
* Able to work independently and take ownership of your designs
Language Requirements
* English: required (working language for interviews and internal communication)
* French: nice to have
* Dutch is not mandatory (current team is Dutch-speaking, but English is the common language)
What’s on Offer
* Permanent role on internal payroll
* Company car + fuel card
* Meal vouchers
* Eco vouchers
* Phone & laptop
* Expense reimbursements
* Hospitalisation insurance
* Group insurance
* Work in a growing engineering team with increasing project scale and technical complexity
* Exposure to large industrial projects with real-world impact in water reuse and process installations
Why Join?
You’ll join a young but rapidly growing industrial engineering team, working on technically challenging projects with real production impact. This role is ideal for a designer who wants ownership, technical depth, and direct involvement with execution on site, not just desk-based drafting.
