Soil Capital is on a mission to regenerate over 10 million hectares of land by 2030, addressing our environmental and food security challenges through regenerative and low-carbon agriculture. As a leading expert in this field, we have developed the first payment for ecosystem services program for farmers in Europe. Through our certified programme and our platform, Soil Capital leads the food and ag sector transformation by engaging with blue chip organisations who seek to deliver on their environmental commitments and build supply chain resilience. These business purchase regenerative units, acting as an incentive for farmers to measure and earning improve their agricultural practices. Our technology supports farmers by allowing them to efficiently and accurately measure farming practices, as well as the GHG balance of their farm which we then audit and certify to generate certificates. This helps farmers understand the levers to accelerate their adoption of regenerative practices. In the past ten years, Soil Capital has established as a thought leader and a driver of change at scale in France, the U.K. and Belgium. Pursuing its ambitious growth trajectory, it is now expanding geographical and product scopes. Role Purpose We are looking for a motivated and hands-on Agro-Economics Analyst Intern to join our Agronomy team. Soil Capital currently supports 1,600 farmers and aims to strengthen its value proposition by developing "agro-economic" indicators. The objective of this project is to link our existing agronomic database with simplified economic indicators (production costs, margins) and agronomic indicators (ground coverage rate, dry matter balance, STIR, nitrogen efficiency) to allow farmers and partners to set concrete transition targets and compare their performance against group averages. Key Responsibilities 1. Indicator Development & Refinement (Technical Pillar) Economic block: Revise costs upward based on mutual aid (“baremes Entraide”) scales and integrate a "Labor Cost" column into reports. Making our simplified margin calculator more reliable. Agro-Economic Indicators: Refine/improve calculations and mappings for the following blocks. Example of tasks below : STIR : Integrate correlation between soil disturbance index and tillage depth. DMB (Dry Matter Balance): Optimization of calculations based on cover crop height at the time of destruction. Ground coverage rate : Create the indicator based on our DATA Nitrogen: Develop mapping and new calculation methods for nitrogen use efficiency (nitrogen from mineral inputs, organic inputs, cover crops, previous crop etc.) 2. Data Intelligence & Reporting (Data Pillar) Power BI Visualization: Create and update interactive dashboards for tracking all indicators & simplified margins. Technical Documentation: Provide the team with clear abaci (abaques) and documentation on the calculation methodologies used. Data quality : Ensure that these indicators run on correct raw data. 3. Strategic Support & Field Insights (Corporate & Agronomic Pillar) Agronomic team: Integrate these indicators to inform a methodology for agronomic discussions with our farmers. Train the team to better understand and use indicators. Content Production: Once the simplified margins are reliable, participate in the creation of educational materials and 4 standardized case studies (Center of France, North of France / Belgium, United Kingdom) for the Corporate team, including : Main agronomic indicators & evolution Main economic indicators & evolution Greehouse Gas Emissions, thanks to DNDC simulation, through Postman software. AI prospective: Once these indicators have been developed, how can they be linked to AI to assist agronomists with standardized advice? Your Profile Education: Final-year student in Agronomy/Bio-engineering or a Master’s in Data Science applied to agriculture. Technical Skills: Proficiency in Power BI and ideally Python. Interests: Strong curiosity regarding farm economics, regenerative agriculture (Beyond Carbon), and database management. Qualities : Ability to work independently with a "servant-leader" mindset, strong synthesis skills, and ease in communicating with diverse partners. What We Offer The opportunity to work at the heart of a pioneering agricultural carbon company in Europe. A cross-functional mission at the intersection of pure agronomy (agronomy team), data science (DATA team), and business strategy (Corporate team). A dynamic team where technical expertise is valued and shared You will be joining our team for a 3-month internship. At Soil Capital, we believe that transforming our relationship with nature is the key to a viable food system. Farmers, as stewards of 40% of the Earth's land, hold the potential to lead this change. By joining us, you’ll have the opportunity to grow your career in a mission-driven company, surrounded by passionate colleagues. Soil Capital is an equal opportunity employer. We encourage applications from all candidates who meet the job requirements, regardless of their race, colour, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, or disability.
