Mechanical Piping Designer / Engineer
to join our team on a short-term freelance basis for an industrial process installation project. The project involves the installation of equipment and systems for soybean processing, specifically focusing on hexane extraction systems. The ideal candidate will have expertise in
Autodesk Inventor
and
Point Cloud
technologies to support the integration of new systems into existing infrastructure. Key Challenges Difficulty finding candidates with both
Inventor
and
point cloud
experience. Limited availability of suitable freelancers in the local market. Tight project timelines requiring immediate support. The need for on-site collaboration within a large multidisciplinary team.
Role Requirements The position has become available due to an
increased workload
resulting from a large ongoing project. The internal team’s current capacity is insufficient to meet the strict deadlines, and we require additional support to ensure timely project completion. Responsibilities Piping and Ducting Design:
Design and model piping and ducting systems using
Autodesk Inventor. Point Cloud Integration:
Work with
point cloud data
(3D scan data) to integrate designs into existing environments. Team Collaboration:
Collaborate closely with the on-site engineering team to ensure seamless integration and consistency across designs. Support for Installation:
Provide accurate and buildable designs to support the ongoing installation phase. Key Skills and Experience Autodesk Inventor (Essential) : Must have proficiency in using Inventor for mechanical design and piping systems. Point Clouds / 3D Scan Data (Essential) : Experience working with point cloud data for integrating designs into existing environments. Piping and Ducting Design (Essential) : Previous experience designing and modeling industrial piping and ducting systems. Sheet Metal Design (Nice to Have) : Experience with sheet metal design is a plus. Autodesk Plant 3D (Nice to Have) : Familiarity with Autodesk Plant 3D for plant design. Project Stage Active engineering and execution phase. Ongoing equipment dismantling and installation. Design and detailing of piping and ducting currently in progress. Desired Outcomes By the end of the 6-month contract, we expect the candidate to have: Delivered high-quality, detailed piping and ducting designs that meet project specifications. Effectively supported the execution phase, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of designs. Integrated seamlessly into the team, contributing to effective collaboration and project success.
