As a Data & Analytics Application Analyst, you analyse analytical needs, translate them into concrete data requirements, and document the corresponding functional specifications and designs that drive high‑quality data pipelines and reporting.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
1. Requirements & Use Cases
Analyse business needs and translate them into clear functional specifications, use cases, and acceptance criteria to enable the (re)use or development of data pipelines, datasets, and reports.
2. Stakeholder Partner
Serve as a go‑to point of contact for business stakeholders and their leadership, maintaining regular communication and aligning expectations across teams.
3. Reporting & Visualisation Guidance
Advise on reporting techniques and best practices; produce mock‑ups and proof‑of‑concepts to guide solution design.
4. Roadmap Ownership
Collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation (data users, data suppliers, and other partners) to build and maintain product/solution roadmaps.
5. Domain Curiosity
Demonstrate interest in transport planning and operations and contribute ideas to improve operational efficiency and customer service.
6. Delivery Support
Support development and test teams in implementing your requirements into validated data assets, reports, and test scenarios.
7. Documentation
Produce and maintain up‑to‑date solution documentation (functional designs, data contracts, lineage notes, user guides).
8. Data Governance Collaboration
Coordinate regularly with data owners, data architects, data custodians, and data consumers to manage enhancements, defects, and incident backlogs and to maintain coherent roadmaps.
9. Architecture Alignment
Work with data architects to align with business and solution architecture; consult Enterprise, System, and Solution Architects as needed.
Qualifications
Must‑Have (Conformity Criteria)
10. Master’s degree (or equivalent professional experience).
11. Practical knowledge of Agile/Scrum ways of working.
12. 5+ years of experience in a similar role (, Functional Analyst, Application Owner).
13. Strong written and spoken communication skills in Dutch, French, and English:Dutch or French at C level, the other national language at B2 minimum, and English at B2.
14. Ability to be on‑site at the head office at least 2 days per week.
15. Legal authorisation to work in Belgium.
Nice‑to‑Have (Evaluation Criteria)
16. In‑depth, hands‑on experience with the Azure data estate, such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Databricks, Azure SQL/SQL MI, Fabric/Lakehouse, and related governance tooling.
17. Strong command of analysis techniques (use cases, scenario creation, business process modelling, data mapping).
18. Excellent communication and stakeholder management across business and IT.
19. Methodical, precise, and detail‑oriented working style.
20. Proactive, solution‑oriented, well‑organised, with strong problem‑solving skills.
21. Knowledge of transport operations (railway or comparable complex transport environments) is a plus.

Location & Work Pattern
