We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced structural biologist to join our Discovery group. The successful candidate will support different projects, providing structure-function related insights, and collaborate in a cross-functional setting to drive the discovery of new therapeutic agents. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in protein structure determination, molecular protein modelling and drug design, with experience working with membrane proteins being a plus.
The job is based in our facility in Zwijnaarde, Belgium.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Support structure determination of antibodies and complexes thereof using X-ray crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy.
2. Collaborate with research teams to analyze structural data and interpret results in the context of molecular function and disease pathways.
3. Contribute to the design and optimization of protein expression and purification strategies to facilitate elucidation of structure-function mechanisms.
4. Contribute to the identification and leveraging of computational tools and algorithms to address recurring scientific challenges.
5. Identify and proactively address suboptimal aspects of the role, working with the team to implement improvements.
Desired skills, experience and challenges:
6. Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or a related field with a demonstrated expertise in structural biology.
7. Strong knowledge of various structural analysis techniques, such as X-ray crystallography, NMR spectroscopy, or cryo-electron microscopy, and associated computational tools.
8. Experience in using software tools for protein structure prediction and molecular modelling in a Linux environment is a strong asset.
9. Experience working with membrane proteins is a plus.
