Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator to join our IT Operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for the availability, performance, security, and lifecycle management of our Microsoft SQL Server platforms, supporting business‑critical applications in a 24/7 enterprise environment.
You will act as a technical authority for database operations, contribute to automation initiatives, and collaborate closely with infrastructure, application, and project teams.
This role follows a hybrid working model, with an expected minimum on‑site presence of 8 days per month. It is not a fully remote position, as close collaboration with operations, infrastructure, and project teams is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Database Platform & Operations
1. Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server environments (2016 and above)
2. Ensure stable and reliable database operations across development, test, and production environments
3. Participate in a 24/7 on‑call rotation (approximately 7–10 days per month)
Performance, Availability & Recovery
4. Monitor database health, performance, and capacity
5. Analyze and resolve performance issues using native SQL Server tools
6. Design and maintain backup, restore, and recovery strategies
7. Implement and operate High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions
Security & Compliance
8. Ensure database security, integrity, and access controls
9. Protect databases against unauthorized access and evolving threats
10. Support audit, compliance, and operational best practices
Automation & Continuous Improvement
11. Develop and maintain automation scripts and operational tooling (PowerShell, Ansible, dbatools)
12. Continuously improve database standards, procedures, and operational efficiency
13. Provide metrics and reporting related to database usage, performance, and reliability
Collaboration & Support
14. Work closely with application teams, developers, and project teams
15. Respond to incidents and user‑reported issues in a timely and professional manner
16. Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing within the team
Required Qualifications
17. 5+ years of hands‑on experience as a Database Administrator for Microsoft SQL Server (2016+)
18. Strong expertise in SQL and database performance tuning and optimization
19. Solid experience with backup/restore strategies and recovery models
20. Practical knowledge of High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions
21. Experience with Windows Server environments, including Active Directory
22. Proven problem‑solving skills and analytical mindset
23. Strong communication and documentation skills in English
24. Ability to work under pressure in a 24/7 operational environment
25. Team‑oriented mindset with a strong sense of ownership
Nice to Have / Assets
26. Experience with SQL Server Always On
27. Experience with SSIS, SSRS, SSAS (configuration & troubleshooting)
28. Exposure to Azure SQL Databases or hybrid environments
29. Experience with dbatools
30. Familiarity with ServiceNow and Azure DevOps
31. Experience with other database platforms (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
32. Microsoft SQL Server certifications and/or Azure certifications like AZ-900
