Overview
The Product Owner for the Linux team shapes the vision and delivery of Euroclear’s Linux infrastructure, including containerized solutions. This role turns business needs into secure, scalable, automated platforms. As a people leader, the Product Owner drives collaboration, team growth, and clear priorities. Working in Agile/Scrum, they partner with engineers, security, and stakeholders to ensure stability, security, and continuous improvement across all environments.
Key Responsibilities
Product Vision & Roadmap
1. Define and communicate the product vision and roadmap for Linux platform engineering, including OS lifecycle management, automation frameworks, configuration management, containerization strategies, and tooling enhancements.
2. Collaborate with engineering leaders and business stakeholders to align platform capabilities with organizational strategies and infrastructure standards.
3. Identify emerging technology trends, open-source ecosystems, Containers Kubernetes environments and infrastructure automation to inform product direction.
Backlog Ownership
4. Own and prioritize the product backlog, balancing technical debt, security compliance, feature development, and operational improvements.
5. Translate technical and operational requirements into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and deliverables.
6. Facilitate backlog refinement with engineers, ensuring clarity, feasibility, and alignment with sprint goals.
People Management
7. Ensure the right mix of competencies is present within the team to meet current and future objectives.
8. Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with all squad members to foster strong working relationships.
9. Hold appraisal sessions and discuss individual career development opportunities with team members.
10. Manage all administrative aspects of people management, including approval of holidays, overtime, and related matters.
Organising Daily Operations
11. Ensuring that the required number of engineers is available each day to staff essential operations.
12. Coordinating watch-duty schedules and weekend assignments.
13. Monitoring and addressing incidents and escalations as they may arise.
14. Actively participate in Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
15. Provide timely guidance and decisions to unblock engineering and support work and maintain consistent delivery.
16. Validate and accept completed work, ensuring features meet the Definition of Done, security standards, and integration requirements.
17. This all in strong collaboration with the scrum master.
Stakeholder Engagement
18. Serve as the primary liaison between engineers, EDO’s (Epic Delivery Owner’s), security teams, application owners, and leadership.
19. Communicate progress, risks, and priorities to stakeholders, balancing technical constraints with business needs.
20. Gather feedback from internal customers to continuously improve Linux platform capabilities.
Technical & Domain Understanding
21. Understand Linux systems, including package management, patching, kernel updates, system services, and performance monitoring,
22. Demonstrate strong understanding of infrastructure automation tools (., Ansible, Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines.
23. Possess solid knowledge of containerization technologies (Red Hat OpenShift), virtualization platforms, cloud integration approaches, and security‑hardening practices.
24. Demonstrate understanding of virtualization technologies (AHV/ESX), cloud platforms (Azure), and security‑focused tooling (Rapid7, OpenSCAP, CrowdStrike, HAXM, SELinux, .
25. Strong understanding of enterprise risk management and the ability to proactively maintain and enforce risk controls in daily operations.
Qualifications
26. Experience in a Product Owner role in the complex organisation with multiple stakeholders.
27. Familiarity with Linux ecosystem concepts and open-source technologies.
28. Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).
29. People management skills.
30. Proven ability to manage technical backlogs and work closely with engineering teams.
31. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
32. Experience with infrastructure-as-code, automation, and configuration management tools.
33. Experience working with large-scale enterprise infrastructure or hybrid cloud environments.
34. Knowledge of security best practices, compliance frameworks, and patch/OS lifecycle management.
