We are looking for a Head of Pharmacovigilance Innovation to join us in our Global Pharmacovigilance team, based in any of our Brussels (Belgium), Slough (UK) or Raleigh (US) offices.
About the role
Reporting to the Head Vigilance, Systems & Innovation, as member of their leadership team (LT), the Head Pharmacovigilance Innovation will will drive the innovative transformation of the PV System. In a dynamic, complex, and highly regulated environment, this role will lead the shift towards more efficient, high-quality, and compliant processes, technologies, and business models—ultimately enhancing product safety and supporting our purpose to ensure a positive benefit-risk balance for our patients.
This role will be an agent for change, developing, owning, and continuously evolving the innovation roadmap for PV, ensuring alignment with business priorities and driving UCB to the forefront of the industry. This roadmap will define a clear path for leveraging emerging technologies, optimizing workflows, and improving data-driven decision-making, with a strong focus on measurable outcomes such as increased efficiency, enhanced regulatory compliance, and improved patient safety. The role should also consider the wealth of data within the PV environment, shifting our mindset to a more exploratory, insights-driven approaches that can fuel evidence generation.

What you’ll do
1. Develop and implement the innovation strategy for pharmacovigilance.
2. Innovate to mitigate gaps in process, technologies, and competencies, and to achieve step change improvements in efficiency, quality and compliance.
3. Own and drive and regularly update the innovation roadmap for pharmacovigilance.
4. Use knowledge of the pharmaceutical and/or medical technology industry to critically evaluate the potential of novel technologies and processes.
5. Build a transversal network for across UCB and with external partners to enable collaborative, outcome-focused innovations for the benefit of our key stakeholders.
6. Evaluate and create tools to build and develop relevant competencies for new trends within industry in relation to safety case processing, signal management and supporting technologies, and novel areas in

Interested? For this position you’ll need the following education, experience and skills:
8. Bachelor’s degree required, higher level degree preferred
9. Expert knowledge with significant experience in the pharma, biotechnology or medical device industries.
10. Strong change management skills, capable of challenging the status quo and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
11. Experience in the identification and selection of implementing emerging technologies to enhance processes and remove bottlenecks.
12. Strong portfolio and project management skills to drive prioritization of initiatives.
13. Financial acumen to develop business cases and value assessments for innovation investments.
