About the Role We’re seeking a Solution Architect (Freelance) to lead the evolution of our client’s integration platform architecture, connecting diverse information systems across Azure and private cloud environments. This mission-critical role is at the heart of digital transformation, enabling seamless data flow, secure electronic payments, and the modernization of legacy systems. You’ll architect, design, and guide the development of solutions that power enterprise data management and next-generation payment systems. What You’ll Be Doing Designing and evolving technical architectures for hybrid integration platforms (Azure and private cloud/legacy applications) Defining and documenting high-level and technical architecture designs Leading the implementation of enterprise data management solutions and electronic payment integrations Guiding and coaching a development team through solution delivery Developing and documenting robust, scalable integration solutions Ensuring seamless handover and upskilling of developers on new architectures Collaborating closely with stakeholders to align technical solutions with business objectives Delivering technical analysis and solution documentation to support ongoing platform evolution Working in a hybrid model: 5 days per week, with a minimum of 2 days onsite in Brussels Technical Skills Expertise in technical architecture of hybrid integration platforms (Azure private cloud/legacy applications) Advanced knowledge of Azure services: AKS, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, Azure Storage, Workbooks, Kusto Query Language Advanced experience with Docker, containerization, Kubernetes, Helm, and Kustomize Expertise in Enterprise Data Management, data repositories, and subscription mechanisms to Authentic Sources Advanced integration of electronic payment solutions (Worldline SIPS, Xengo, CTEP Terminal) and CODA files Expert-level Java (11/17/21) and J2EE platform skills Advanced experience with Quarkus Expertise in REST, SOAP, WS-Security, SOA, and microservices Expert-level Spring 6.x, JPA/Hibernate, Spring Boot, Spring Batch Advanced Spring-WS skills Advanced experience with WSO2 Enterprise Integrator (6.4) and API Manager (2.6) What We’re Looking For Proven experience as a Solution Architect or Technical Architect in complex, hybrid environments Builder mindset: ownership, initiative, and a passion for solving high-impact technical challenges Ability to lead, mentor, and inspire development teams Strong analytical and documentation skills Clear, effective communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders Fluency in English; knowledge of French or Dutch is a plus Availability for a 9-month freelance engagement, with partial onsite presence in Brussels Other Requirements Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments is highly valued Eligibility to work onsite in Brussels at least 2 days per week Ready to build the future with us?
