About spiritsEUROPE
European spirits success is based on tradition, know-how, and secret recipes handed down through generations. The sector includes products like rum, whisky, vodka, and over 250 geographical indications (GIs) registered in Europe, such as Cognac, Irish Whiskey, and Polish Vodka, reflecting a culture rooted in tradition.
The spirits sector in many EU Member States has strong cultural ties and close links to agriculture. With over €9 billion in annual exports, the European spirits industry is one of the largest exporters in the agro-food sector, supporting over 1,200,000 European jobs across various industries.
