POLITICO is seeking a skilled and knowledgeable EU policy analyst to join the Policy & Intelligence team within our Research and Analysis Division. The successful candidate will monitor, analyse, and deliver strategic insights on EU legislation and initiatives across the Competition & Industry portfolio. This role is ideal for a proactive analyst with strong political intuition, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, cross-cultural environment.
The POLITICO Research and Analysis Division specializes in delivering independent data analysis and policy research to equip policy professionals with actionable intelligence. Our ready-to-use reports distill complex political and regulatory developments into clear, digestible, and comprehensive insights, empowering decision-makers to navigate today's dynamic landscape with confidence. Operating independently from the POLITICO Newsroom, the Research and Analysis division is committed to delivering objective, fact-based analyses.

What You'll Do:
As a Policy Analyst, you will be at the forefront of monitoring, analysing, and interpreting key developments across the European Union policymaking landscape. Your domain expertise across the Competition & Industry portfolio will support our knowledge base and provide valuable guidance to clients and subscribers.
* Legislative monitoring and analysis: track legislative developments, policy initiatives, and inter-institutional dynamics; conduct in-depth research on legislative proposals, directives, regulations, and strategic initiatives across multiple sectors relevant to your policy area of expertise.
* Research and policy insight development: analyze the interplay between key EU actors and assess their influence on legislative processes and policy outcomes; deliver nuanced insights into the implications of EU policies for member states, domestic industries, and diverse stakeholders.
* Integration of data-driven insights: collaborate closely with the PRAD data team to enrich qualitative policy analyses with quantitative findings; incorporate data-driven insights into policy analysis, ensuring conclusions are grounded in key metrics and evidence; contribute policy expertise to data-driven research reports, enhancing their relevance with actionable recommendations and contextual understanding.
* Presentations and stakeholder engagement: translate complex EU policies into clear, concise policy briefs, research reports, and presentations; communicate findings effectively to diverse audiences, including technical experts and high-level decision-makers, through tailored written reports and oral presentations.
What You'll Need:
* A master's degree in political science, EU studies, journalism, international relations, economics, or a related field.
* 3–4 years of experience in EU policy analysis, political research, policy reporting, or intelligence work preferably with exposure to Competition, Industry, Internal Market, Trade, or adjacent files.
* In-depth knowledge of EU institutional procedures and legislative processes.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to produce clear and impactful outputs.
* Fluency in English; proficiency in French or another EU language is highly desirable.
* Advanced proficiency in the MS Office Suite, interactive technology platforms, and other intelligence-gathering tools.
