Supply Chain Master Data Project Manager

Overview
As a key member of the Global Supply Chain (GSC) Continuous Improvement team, you will own and drive the master data agenda for supply chain operations across all Veolia Water Tech regions and business lines. Your mission is to define data standards, execute data cleansing, establish governance frameworks, and implement sustainable controls for supply chain master data, covering materials, planning data, BOMs, routings, logistics, and asset data across SAP and Oracle JDE. You will identify upstream process gaps, design and improve processes to ensure data standards are created, maintained, and sustained correctly at source. The role supports strategic digital initiatives – advanced planning tools, an MDM platform, and a unified data platform – making it both urgent and strategically critical.
Responsibilities
Project Management & Execution
* Develop and maintain detailed project plans.
* Manage risks, issues, dependencies, and budgets.
* Facilitate governance reviews and steering committee meetings.
* Manage broader digital and supply‑chain transformation initiatives.
* Maintain project documentation.
* Follow project‑management best‑in‑class standards.
Change Management & Training
* Develop change‑management and communication strategies.
* Design and deliver training programs for data owners, stewards, and plant teams – including guidance on using Alation.
* Provide hands‑on coaching during implementation.
* Foster a culture of data ownership and accountability.
Master Data Standards Definition
* Assess current supply‑chain master data across SAP and Oracle JDE to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and root causes.
* Define data standards, naming conventions, field‑level rules, and data dictionaries.
* Establish data‑quality rules, controls, and validation criteria.
* Document and publish all standards, dictionaries, and definitions.
Data Cleansing & Remediation
* Design, lead, and execute structured data‑cleansing programs.
* Coordinate cross‑functional teams.
* Implement controls to prevent recurrence and track quality improvement.
Governance Framework & Data Ownership
* Partner with Data Governance organization to align supply‑chain master data governance with company‑wide frameworks.
* Establish roles, responsibilities, decision rights, and RACI matrices.
Control Mechanisms & Data Quality Monitoring
* Design and implement process controls and system checkpoints.
* Develop metrics, monitoring dashboards, and reporting mechanisms.
* Conduct regular audits after project closure to identify non‑compliance and drive corrective action plans.
* Leverage Alation for data‑quality monitoring, audit trails, and compliance tracking.
* Report on quality status and progress.
Process Analysis & Improvement
* Analyze end‑to‑end data creation, maintenance, and approval processes to identify gaps and root causes.
* Map current‑state processes and design improved future‑state workflows embedding data standards and governance at source.
* Lead process‑improvement initiatives to eliminate recurring data‑quality problems.
* Define and document SOPs for master‑data creation and maintenance across all regions and business lines.
* Collaborate with plant teams and stakeholders to validate and implement redesigned processes.
* Monitor effectiveness and adjust to sustain quality gains.
Digital Initiative Enablement
* Enable key digital programs: advanced planning tools, MDM platform, unified data platform, and others.
* Sequence master‑data standards and cleansing to meet digital program timelines.
* Collaborate with IT to translate data requirements into system specifications.
* Position Alation as the central documentation layer for master‑data standards feeding digital programs.
* Support data migration and system testing where master‑data quality is a dependency.
Stakeholder Management & Collaboration
* Build working relationships with plant managers, regional supply‑chain leaders, data owners, IT, and others.
* Facilitate cross‑functional workshops to define standards, resolve conflicts, and build consensus.
* Develop and maintain a network of master‑data champions across plants and regions.
* Present progress, risks, and recommendations to GSC leadership and steering committees.
Education
* Degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field – Master’s preferred.
* Fluency in English; additional languages are a strong advantage.
Experience
* Solid experience in a global manufacturing, chemical, or industrial company.
* Strong project‑management track record in complex, multi‑site, global environments.
* Hands‑on experience with supply‑chain master data in SAP and/or Oracle JDE (materials, BOMs, routings, planning parameters, logistics data).
* Proven experience defining data standards, leading cleansing programs, or implementing governance frameworks.
* Experience in process analysis, mapping, and improvement – ideally applied to data management or supply‑chain operations.
* Preference for a supply‑chain background across planning, logistics, or manufacturing operations.
* Experience in a global matrixed organization, leading through influence.
* Exposure to data catalogue tools such as Alation is an advantage.
* Exposure to digital transformation programs (MDM platforms, planning tools, ERP rollouts) is a strong advantage.
* Deep understanding of supply‑chain master‑data objects, data‑quality principles, and MDM concepts.
* Project‑management expertise in planning and delivering complex multi‑work‑stream projects.
* Solid understanding of end‑to‑end supply‑chain processes including planning, logistics, and manufacturing.
* Hands‑on experience with SAP and/or Oracle JDE master data.
* Familiarity with governance frameworks, data ownership models, and governance tooling.
* Experience or ability to adopt data catalogue tools such as Alation quickly.
* Process‑improvement skills using Lean Six Sigma or similar methodologies.
* Stakeholder‑management skills – influence and drive consensus across cultures and functions without direct authority.
* Change‑management experience driving behavioural and operational change in complex global organisations.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and ability to present complex topics clearly to diverse audiences.
* Strong analytical thinking, data analysis, problem‑solving, and root‑cause analysis capabilities.
