Internship Position
This Internship position will involve working on our LUVMI-M project. As part of our Lunar Rover development activity, the position will entail supporting the design, integration and test of the rover development model. Several potential areas of work are possible depending on the background of the candidate and the needs on the project, including mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, robotics engineering, software engineering.
The successful candidate will be a part of the Future Projects & Exploration (FPX) Team from our Technologies, Applications & Research Division in the Systems Department and will primarily report to the Future Projects & Exploration (FPX) team lead.
* Location: Sint-Stevens-Woluwe (Brussels Area)
* Duration: 3 to 6 Months
* Start date: At the earliest.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Depending on the background of the candidate and the needs of the project, possible tasks could include:
* Mechanical hardware and mechanism design, integration and testing. Support for rover development model integration
* Integration of electrical systems, cabling, compatibility testing, embedded software / firmware design and testing
* Software development, integration and testing with the hardware
* Visual image processing development and testing.
Skills and Experience
* Currently enrolled in a master’s degree in space engineering, robotics engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or software engineering
* Enthusiastic and team worker
* Autonomous and rigorous mindset
* Good written and spoken English.
Considered as Assets
* Hands-on experience with integration and testing, including the safe use of tools and lab equipment
* Experience with relevant design and operational software (CAD, ECAD, FEM, ROS, Git,...)
* Understanding of Lunar environmental conditions and challenges.
* Experience or knowledge in:
o Planetary robotics / mobility systems (rover) – hardware or software
o Space systems engineering
