Role Overview
As a Freelance Automation Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and optimizing automation systems for robotic and machinery applications. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-performance solutions tailored to client needs.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop automation systems for robotic and industrial machinery applications.
Program and configure PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider).
Integrate sensors, actuators, and control systems into existing and new machinery.
Conduct system testing, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to ensure seamless integration.
Provide technical documentation and support for commissioning and maintenance.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and industry regulations.
Required Skills & Experience
Proven experience in industrial automation, preferably within robotics or machinery.
Strong knowledge of PLC programming (Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000, etc.).
Familiarity with HMI/SCADA systems and industrial communication protocols (e.g., OPC UA, Modbus, Profibus).
Experience with robotic systems (e.g., ABB, KUKA, FANUC) is a strong plus.
Understanding of electrical schematics and control panel design.
Ability to work independently and manage project timelines.
Fluent in English; Dutch or French is a plus.
Desirable Skills
Experience with Industry 4.0 technologies and IoT integration.
Knowledge of Python, C++, or other scripting languages for automation.
Familiarity with CAD tools and simulation software.
Previous freelance or consultancy experience in industrial settings.
